Is admission and acceptance used in the same way? Sorry. I’m just trying to understand the numbers and I appreciate the help. Maybe they accept many more than they expect to actually enroll?
Freshmen. And every college accepts way more than they actually want to enroll because they know applicants apply to many other colleges then choose only one. That’s why many colleges, like UGA, have a waitlist in case fewer students enroll than anticipated. They also don’t want to enroll more than what they want.
They admit many more than they enroll, based on historical patterns. So this person is saying that 14,000-15,000 are given acceptances, but only 5,550 students accept and decide to enroll at UGA.
It seems that those doing RA may not have much of a chance? Is that historically true?
No, both reviews are the same regardless if you apply RD or EA. I advise you to go on the UGA Admissions blog on their admissions website to get more info about the admissions process at UGA.
I have. Thank you for the info. It just seems that if there are already 7,000 admitted from EA and the total applying are 39,000, many of the spaces are filled. We should have done early. Oh well. Thank you for the help.
39,000 is not in addition to the number of applicants from EA. It’s the total from EA & RD. They are likely to accept a large number during RD to fill spots.
Well. I will remain hopeful then. Thank you.
UGA accepted 13,000 last year. I predict they admit more this year because the rise in applications at many schools means that yields will fall for many schools. Still a very competitive year. Good luck all!
Does anyone know if any early action deferred will be accepted in the February round? Thx!
I believe just highly qualified RD applicants are accepted in February.
Normally no because February acceptances are normally given to a small # of kids who didn’t apply EA but met the criteria of the kids who were accepted EA.
I know that is what they say, but just wondering if anyone knows of anyone who was deferred EA that got in February. Thx!
I know 1 person. He had a new test score (1500 plus). Deferred EA admitted February. There are a handful of those with new info. Rest are RD admits with EA stats.
Thank you!
UGA release dates for final decisions were just announced:
I have to say I vastly prefer UGA’s communication of dates, etc to the “we will cloak our decision dates in darkness so you have to obsessively check portals every day for months”. Their transparency is very helpful in making a very stressful process less stressful. I truly appreciate that.
I wish other schools’ Admissions Offices were as transparent and communicative in terms of timing as Dr. Graves. He really is fabulous.
ie UNC…
I wonder if these days are also for deferred applicants
