Thanks for letting us know.
Iâm sorry, I feel your pain. Itâs frustrating for sure. One thing I hear over and over again is that admissions decisions donât always make sense. Hang in there.
Congrats to your son.
Congrats to your son. Dâs classmate was deferred EA with 4.2 uga gpa, 11 apâs but no test scores. Dâs friend has a job (pt during school/ft during summer), 3 varsity sports, student council leadership, etc. We were all very surprised. Everyone who applied from their school was admitted EA except that one person.
There were definitely some weird deferrals this year of high stat kids (across universities), so I understand your frustration. I think the bulk of test optional apps really threw a wrench in the process, but you wouldnât think having HIGH scores would be a disadvantage!
Congrats. That happened to one of my sons friends also a couple of years ago. Similar stats and deferred EA. No change in info. Think every year there are a handful of those!
Hi everyone! I have a quick question. I know that UGA doesnât require mid-year transcripts, but should I submit it since I applied for the Honors Program, and they are technically going to review my application again? Will it hurt me if I donât send it?
I would email the honors department and ask them. I think they will be responsive and then you can know for sure.
You should send it. I think itâs one of those âoptionalâ things that isnât really optional.
So has anyone received a scholarship after the initial wave sent in December? S got honors but not merit, and as other schools have issued theirs, itâs a bit harder to stay enthusiastic. GA has been so transparent about all other aspects of admissions, but a statement that scholarships will be awarded âthrough Marchâ or whatever, without a firm deadline, leaves kids hanging, not knowing until much later than scholarships arenât coming. Iâd love it if they put out an end date so we know one way or the other. We are trying to plan some campus visits but canât include UGA at this point.
My guess is through March means they will continue to issue scholarships thru and shortly after the regular decision date of March 19.
I looked back at the blog and he said through April, ugh.
Were they waiting on something else from you? That seems odd he wasnât accepted the 1st go round.
(Sorry, wasnât paying attention, thought reply was to me)
No, his application was complete, all supporting documents were confirmed received on time, and nothing was updated after the fact. It makes me wonder if they had even reviewed his application before releasing EA decisions because his stats are very competitive within the EA group, and the blog stated that the few EA deferred kids admitted in February had something corrected in their application. I know heâs fortunate to have a decision now when so many others are still waiting, but as a result of being deferred he decided not to apply for honors and has already moved on.
Anyone in the northeast Ohio area planning to go to UGA? This is my daughterâs first choice and was admitted EA, and would love to meet others in the area who will be attending UGA!
My daughter was deferred EA, so we are waiting for a decision. We are from Ohio, but live in Georgia now. My husband is from Northwest Ohio and we lived in Columbus prior to moving to GA. Our family has lots of friends with kids at UGA. Happy to help answer any questions if we can.
Thank you!
is march 19 the decision date for deferred students?
Yes
