Alright, world here is my dilemma.
I don’t like UGA. Yes, I have gotten more used to it over the past two semesters, but I continue to find myself unhappy here. I feel like don’t belong here. Which very well may be the case. Let’s discuss its pros: Firstly, its school of communications (Grady) is the only college in Georgia to have a major in specifically PR. It’s a great school! I have been coasting with a high GPA. My issues: I hate the location. I was meant to live near the action, specifically just outside the city. I don’t feel like I fit in with the people here, I have tried a variety of clubs and none of them have yet to click. No friends! I haven’t made a single new friend here. Whether that be because I’m just a terrible communicator or just bad luck I’m not sure, but nonetheless humiliating. AND Grady doesn’t allow me to apply for two different majors. I’m having a career crisis. I’m unsure if I want to even pursue PR or not. I have always had an allurement to video production, and overall the creative industry. UGA has an OK program for that, however, I can only apply for either PR or EMST, not both. Which sucks.
Georgia tech is honestly my dream campus and demography. Whenever I’m on campus I feel like I fit in better, with the people in general. I would even consider joining greek life there because I know UGA’s is hell. They have a program that sort of mixes PR and production together which is amazing! Except, I would have to take two math and two science courses before even applying. And we all know how difficult it is to get into tech haha (though I’m not sure if it would be as hard to get into the LMC program as it is engineering)
Finally, I would like to avoid GSU, because I feel like I would not have accomplished anything from graduating there. I know the connections between inside Atlanta are fantastic, but I feel like it would be a step down, almost as if I gave up? If I ended up going there, it would be a combination of business and video production.
My plan for the moment is to apply for spring semester of next year as a PR major at Grady, while in the fall semester take classes pertaining to both subjects. If I end up not liking PR, or equally liking the two, then transfer. I’m unsure if it’s worth my time though because I’m not particularly gifted at math and science, and worry that I would have waisted 16 credit hours on a school that rejected me. If anyone knows anything about the LMC program please let me know if it’s good or not! I don’t have anyone from the inside to tell me haha
So that’s my dilemma! Help!
