I want to go down a good quantitative path when it comes to Econ, so I'm trying to pursue a Bachelors of Science instead of a B.A. Out of these three schools, I think UT Austin would be the obvious choice, except that it does not have a B.S in econ, only a B.A (the other two schools have the B.S).

If I'm trying to go onto a good economics grad school (and since I've read on multiple forums that they look for a good solid quantitative background that B.S degrees offer), which one should I do? Does sheer name recognition makes the B.A econ of UT better than the other schools B.S?

Name recognition among graduate schools isn’t the same thing as name recognition among potential undergraduate students. If you’ve been looking at the forums and don’t know if UT name recognition makes a difference, then it may not be that important. As for the BS vs the BA, is there anything that would stop you from getting a good quantitative background with the BA? Have you compared the course requirements for the programs and looked at options for electives? Another aspect to considered is to see where the faculty in the department received their PhDs, it will give you an idea of some of their connections. Same thing with their publications.
