hey everybody....i got my honors college interview notification from email today? Is anyone else scheduled for January 24th?

Btw, can anyone tell me what this interview is like? Reading previous years posts it seems like its just about what you've done through high school and your accomplishments/interests. i just want to make sure (since i am quite shy and am getting extremely nervous lol)

The honors college interview was really chill. Basically you're in a group that corresponds to a color, you all get ushered into a waiting area, and then you talk with someone for 10-15 minutes about your high school experience and a little about the GPPA. It's the second interview that's more intense.

yeah I did apply for gppa pharm... are they calling ppl for interviews in any particular order (order in which apps were received or strongest candidates to weakest thus far)?

I got my honors college interview date last night via email. I don't know if they're calling people in a certain order, but I turned in my online app dec 5 and they received my last rec dec 15, if that helps you (i applied to gppa med).

khanf90: hmmmm, I had thought everyone had their honors college interview this past weekend. Everyone I knew from my school who applied to GPPA med had their interview this last weekend (which is actually quite a few people).

Some of these things aren't exactly true. I really doubt that the average ACT is a 34, it's probably a bit lower. The admissions officers are looking for your ability to be unique and to be yourself, not just another generic person interested in medicine to help people, but grades are still important.

There are several phases of honors college interviews; they stretch on for some months. The sooner your interview is, the better your chances are. The first interview is extremely basic; you need to get the second interview and do really well on that one.

What are some honors that look good on a person. What type is better to get accepted to UIC GPPA Dent. or Med.? What other activities look good? Thanks!

PhatPharmD: If it's true that Dentistry takes 5 to 10 ppl, then it's far more competitive than Med. The students in the GPPA program I talked to before my interview at the Honors College said the program accepts maybe 50 and then 40 some go.
