uic or loyola?

I know this is a uiuc forum..but uic doesnt have one and there doesnt seem to be much going on in the loyola one.

But i was hoping some of you illinois-natives could possibly shed some light

My sister got waitlisted at uiuc and now she is between uic or loyola, instate, for pre-law/journalism/english. Which is better?

doesnt loyola cost a lot more? anyways i would probably pick loyola over UIC

I would also pick loyola if she's not going to get in-state uic tuition.

UIC is not known for being a humanities school. However, they do have an accelerated law program with another school in Chicago. I can't recall which law school though. This program is separate from the GPPA Law program.

how bout UIUC or loyola?

I would definitley pick Loyola over UIC.

Loyola or UIUC? Well, it depends on what you prefer and what you want to do in life. If we're talking about Liberal Arts, they're pretty much the same and Loyola might even have the edge if you get into their Honors Program (you'll definitley get a merit scholarship too). But for BUS/EDU/ENG then UIUC is definitley better. Personally, I like the location and atmosphere of Loyola much more than UIUC but thats just one factor.

uiuc isnt an option right now b/c she got waitlisted and won't know until june...so she still needs to accept admission into a college b/c we cant know if she'll get off the waitlist.

She WILL get in-state tuition for UIC..so is loyola worth the cost? Aren't their programs about equal?

thanks for all the help =)

Overall, UIC and Loyola are considered about equal. UIC is better in some areas and Loyola is better in others.
On this board, there is a lot of prejudice against UIC.
Base tuition and fees at UIC is about $5000 per semester, and at Loyola, it's $13,600 per semester. Also, all Illinois public universities cannot change a cohort's tuition for 4 years, the guarantee tuition law.
She should visit both campuses, and see which one she likes better. They are very different schools.

^I've never heard of that. Every ranking system including US News has Loyola WAY HIGHER than UIC. And everyone that I've talked to has told me that Loyola is much better. If cost is an issue then yeah, go to UIC but know that Loyola is really generous when it comes to merit scholarships.
