I’m an OOS Applicant (from New Jersey!)

Congratulations ezbreez! How long did it take after you sent in your application and documents before you got accepted?

Eek, forgot to put that in the original post.

I’m PRETTY sure I submitted my application on 1/08. They received my essays on 1/09, my SAT scores by 01/17, my HS transcript on 1/22, college transcript on 1/14, and thats how I met the Transfer Priority Deadline (which is apparently a thing.)

Everything was basically in by 1/22.

The online list of requirements says I met the Transfer Priority Deadline on 1/24, so I guess that’s why i heard so soon! (I didn’t even know there was a priority deadline!)

Hmm, it also says I met the priority deadline: February 5th but they received all of my material by the 30th.
Oh well, at least I still met it.

i also met the priority deadline; i sent my application on Feb 1st, but all my other materials were received by Jan 31.

based on how soon they responded to you, i think it might take them two weeks before they respond to us.

Probably. I got an email on the 25th of January asking for syllabus information for six of my classes (I only managed to find four syllabi, but they still accepted all the credits??? Go figure), and I was accepted within 5 days after that (I saw it on my UIUC portal on 30th of January, because I was just checking on a whim! No email telling me to check or anything).

You just have to keep checking the applicant portal.

uofiapplicant, can you send a link for the forum you were talking about here…

“I read on their blog that as long as you meet the minimum GPA requirement and you have the prereq classes then you will be admitted, besides business or engineering which are very competitive.”

Sure thing
[U of I Admissions: Blog Blog Archive Transfer myths–get the facts here](http://blog.admissions.illinois.edu/?p=2273)
You do not need to be a straight-A student to be admitted to Illinois. (Well, it helps for the College of Business, but most majors are not competitive. For most majors, if you meet the GPA guidelines and complete the required coursework and you will be admitted.)

uofiapplicant,

That’s what I am worried about. My GPA is good, both high school and college, I just hate my ACT score and I definitely blame my foreignness for it. But then again, I am only applying to LAS

I have less than 30 credit hours after 1st semester of college and because of that, the admission office will look at my high school information :(.

30 credit hours counts at the time that you applied, right? Not by the end of the year credits?

P.S I listed my other info earlier in the thread but this is just something that is bothering my right now.

Yeah, they will look at your high school transcripts and test scores.
I also had a bad ACT (24) holding me back, so I took the SAT which should be coming in Thursday. My math sub-score was horrendous, but hopefully they look past that because I’ve done Pre-calc and I’m currently taking calc w/ analytic geom atm.
You have a very solid GPA so you should be OK. If they’re on the fence, then I guess they will defer until the spring semester is over so you can send your grades in and they will make a decision off of those, but I’m not entirely sure. I would definitely be OK with that though.

Hey Guys!! I just got accepted into University of Illinois College of Business as an Accountancy major. I’m so happy. I wish everyone on this site good luck and i hope to see you guys in the fall.

Congratulations!
Can’t wait to hear my decision. I called earlier about transfer priority students and all they said was mid-april, but there’s a chance it may be in sooner. Not very helpful

Thank you very much. Yes there’s a chance it may be sooner as long as you made the priority deadline. I think as soon as they receive your SAT scores they will make a decision. I guess that is what is delaying their decision. I’m sure you’ll be accepted if you have a good SAT score.

Yeah, I hope so. I feel like I did very well on the critical reading and the writing sections. Not 100% sure about the math though. I’ve heard great things about their accounting program (ranked 2nd in the nation if I recall). I’m sure you’ll have a great time.

Yeah its one of the best. I hope to hear the good news of your acceptance soon.

Hi people, what should I do if I dropped a current class that I stated as taking it this semester? Do you think this would affect their decision? Should I email them?

I have enough credits without this class to transfer but the problem is that this class (PHYS214 - Quantum Mechanics) is a req. for the major I am applying (CS).

They state that as long as I take the class before fall (ie next summer) I should be fine and that is allowable to cover the requirement, but I said I was taking it this semester so I do not know what I should do.

Please help, any advice is appreciated.

Thanks!

in most cases they state that most pre-reqs must be completed the spring semester prior to fall semester, but since they said you can take it in the summer then i suggest you call them. They probably would ask you why you dropped the class, so giving them a good reason will definitely help you.

I was denied today; major accounting.
I was considered sophomore transfer, and I did not apply during priority admission period.
GPA 3.98
