<p>I used to live in Miami and saw a lot of Hollywood film crews come to town because of the city and South Beach as a backdrop. Sometimes, they would solicit for movie extras or assistants. You could probably get some more practical film experience being in a city like Miami as opposed to Gainesville. </p>
<p>The city of Miami seems to be an advantage although if it is only the city making the university a better choice than I dunno. I could always just spend my summers in Miami doing film internships.</p>
<p>UM has more resources, Miami has more opportunities for film work, and is way nicer than Gainesville (kill me now). As somebody previously mentioned, Ringling in Sarasota is also awesome and you could probably do classes or intern there during the summer (it’s a 3-hour drive).</p>
<p>Ultimately, it boils down to where you will do the best at. </p>
