Last year UMass went well into the beginning of April with notifications. It’s not time to panic yet.

I called UMass on Tuesday, 3-29-2011. The woman in admissions told me that ALL the decision letters have been mailed. Depending upon where you live, you should be recieving them sometime very soon. Good luck to all!

Time to panic??..yup!

My daughter applied Jan. 1st and we are still waiting. She is a dual enrollment student and did all of her senior courses at a community college this past semester. She had 3 A’s and 1 B. She had a 2.9 weighted GPA prior to her senior year. She struggles in test taking and believe her SAT score for math and reading were about a 1050. I just called UMASS admissions and they said they are still sending out both admission and rejection letters. They sent out a large batch today and will be sending out 1 more early next week. There’s still hope.

Do you have the option of checking online? My son’s acceptance came in at the same time as the online status update but if you are getting notification later then the online status may be already available. Good luck.

Thanks hammer1234, checked online this am and still under review. They have said that the online sight is usually updated AFTER decision letter goes out. Not sure why :(

I can’t understand why UMass does this… the date is pretty universally April 1.

I’m sure getting sending the decision after that costs them students, it doesn’t exactly make you feel wanted when you get the letter a week after everyone else’s, and it doesn’t exactly speak to the competence or professionalism of the school.

It stresses people out, and it is unnecessary, yet they seem to do this every year. They need to get their sh** together.

I agree. We should have had the decision letter by now. Very frustrating.

Thanks for calling the admissions office. I wanted to call, too, but after reading that someone else called and was told the last ones were sent April 29th, I thought it was all over. Thanks for giving everyone more hope – at least for a little while longer.

Accepted to Commonwealth Honors College for Linguistics, want to do a double major in physics.

I’m from the Bay Area just North of Berkeley and I’m strongly considering UMass, but I’ve never been to the East Coast before. Any locals here that have visited the Bay and can give a comparison? I’m visiting next weekend but I’d like to hear some opinions

You hear either way… accepted or denied. Until you receive a letter from UMass, you always have hope.

Huh? I got the acceptance mail ages ago - maybe like 10 days ago or something… I live in Turkey so I’m pretty far away.

Turkey!!!..I’m in Worcester n I haven’t heard…I’m thinking they see out rejection letters last…no harm no foul u won’t miss anything cuz ur denied acceptance anyways…:(

not true yolala…I asked that very same question and she stated that they are sending out acceptance and rejection letters. I’m hoping for my daughters sake that the extra time they are taking will be in her favor. hoping anyway…

@Hauteclere
I also live in Turkey. In Izmir actually.
What about you?

“Bu arada ben EA’da kabul edildim. Posta elime dört haftada ulaştı.”

Azaleagrace… I’m with you. I’m thinking positive on this although I’m sure UMass sends them out however they like. No rhyme or reason. We will all know soon.

Azaleagrace… Our daughters are very similar in grades/GPA. It will be interesting to see if your daughter gets in… Keep me posted… I hope she does!

Anyone here know if they are also sending out letters to transfer applicants yet?

Well… That’s tru…I’ll try to keep a positive attitude and hope I’m in…but I do feel a bit better knowing I’m nt the only one still out in the cold…:D

I was deferred and am still waiting to hear. does anyone know when the deferred students usually hear back?
