My daughter applied to Isenberg and still hasn’t heard anything back, but she found out online that Isenberg accepted students is April 11th which is starting to make me doubt her chances of getting in because it is ridiculous to let a student know if they have been accepted the same week as accepted students day especially since so many other schools are doing them around the same time. Feeling very stressed at this point, but still hoping for the best.
@RickyP /@ Zackcae
For internationals the cost works out to be around 45 K USD . You have to factor in compulsory medical insurance of 3.5 K as well as books . So COA will be around 49 K .
Updated in the website as well

@tmahoney. I read your post and honestly didn’t believe it… But your daughter is correct: accepted students day is April 11th - only a week away. I DEFINITELY think either you or your daughter should call UMass to check on her admission status. This is beyond rude IMHO
I called earlier in the week and they gave me the same answer as everyone else. However I asked if the circumstances were different seeing that my daughter goes to a technical high school and none of the they kids in her school have heard either, but I was told she could not reveal that information. She said everyone will hear by April 15th the latest, hopefully the letter will come before the 11th
S is still waiting too!
@darksand99 My letter arrived Tuesday, March 31. The letter was dated for March 27th though which means around 6th of April my spire should be updated.
Still waiting…
In State.
@tmahoney - so how is your daughter supposed to attend an accepted students of Isenberg day on April 11th if she is still waiting to be accepted?! This is so beyond nuts.
Still waiting here. if we don’t hear today, then Im back at the mailbox on Monday.
We went to visit UMass yesterday and I believe that from the presentation that all applications are done. I also don’t want to be discouraging to those that haven’t heard back yet but my guess is that if you haven’t heard by now…and your letter isn’t lost in the mail ( it happens, I get mail all the time that belongs to people streets away from me)…that if you are accepted and you applied to one of the competitive schools within UMass that it will be as undeclared, I believe the competitive schools are already filled. The answers they gave to questions regarding Isenberg, which is not where my S applied to, made it sound as if it will be incredibly difficult to transfer into the program. I took it that those asking were admitted undeclared and their first choice was Isenberg and the questions were ‘how difficult it would be getting into the program if they are undeclared now’. That was just my take on it, I could be wrong and as I said is not the program we were looking for anyway.
My S applied to CS and was admitted undeclared. He was accepted to all his other schools in his chosen major and undeclared here. I don’t have the exact numbers, his GPA is over 4.0 and has AP and college credits in there as well and is certified in some CS stuff after taking some national test (CS is not my ‘thing’ so not sure what all of the stuff is) but I do know that his stats were above the listed Umass ones when he applied. His letter was dated March 27th and his spire changed this morning and included the FA info as well. Those that asked about FA on spire were told that all FA is on Spire so check with the office if it is not posted to fix the problem.
My take is that there are 3 majors that are the most competitive at this school, one being the CS we are looking at, the other Isenberg and I do not remember the 3rd. It seems that those three are full and I would make a guess that any acceptances to Umass, in those 3 programs, at this point would be as an undeclared. Again, could be wrong.
Hope this helps a little. S loved the campus and with the exception of not starting in his major, has everything he is looking for and opportunities galore. The students were wonderful and very helpful and informative. He has decided to accept the Umass offer and take his chances getting into the CS program.
@RickyP , your spire should be updated!
I think it’s safe to say at this point that anyone who has not received an Acceptance Letter in the mail is either Denied or Waitlisted. I work in a high school & I know that a couple of students who were Deferred from Early Decision to Regular Decision received word 2 weeks ago that they were accepted. All others who were Deferred in our school, inlcuding my S have yet to hear.
At this point i think the only hope to hold out is Waitlist or Spring Admittance
I hope I am wrong, but I don’t think so.
Don’t lose hope! My S is OOS and was not deferred, he was RD only. My only thought was that the competitive schools have been filled and the acceptances are going to be offered as undeclared. I did see on last years thread that acceptances were received by some well into April…not great to wait that long but they did get offers that late
Does anyone have a link to last years thread? Couldn’t find it… Thanks.
It’s not so much losing hope but being realistic. UMass reads all of the Regular Decisions first, and then after they make those decisions they go and read the Deferred. At this point all applications Regular & Deferred have been read & decisions made. It’s difficult for Deferred students to get accepted to begin with, couple that with the fact that they recived a record 41,000+ applications this year it’s even more difficult.
That Deferred students who were accepted found out 2 weeks ago is a good indication that as one of the prior posters commented after visiting UMass yesterday that all decisions have been made & sent… Logic tells you that they’d need those to have been sent out by Friday, March 27th…
I’m not being a pessimist, just a realist.
We are still waiting. My daughter was deferred to regular decision. She just went back to review status Thursday morning. Has anyone received anything in today’s mail?
Just to clarify, they said they were done looking at a ‘record number of applications…’ but did not say they were all mailed yet, just indicated they had finished reviewing them. I know it isn’t much but I did see on last years thread that there were acceptances received into April. I am keeping my fingers crossed for all of you that are waiting! I am a realist as well and think that if you are waiting for one of the 3 competitive schools you should be prepared for your second choice major or an offer of undeclared at this point.
also, the reference to the FA being posted on Spire was to a question of someone who had been accepted a couple of weeks prior. Our letter was dated March 27th and Spire just updated today…including the acceptance, yesterday it had still said “under review”
@ndlbacker sorry to break it to you but there are plenty of RD students who still haven’t heard back yet including me. The March 27 decisions are not the final choices and does not mean we all didn’t get in. Like someone else said, last years decisions were sent out from March THROUGH April. I’m OOS and not giving up, I’m checking my mail box everyday
Hey guys, those who got their financial aid packet, I was wondering how do you include the John And Abigail Scholarship to your finacial aid?
