S accepted to Sport Management today. 1470, 3.7 UW. Chancellor’s award 12k OOS. Received a nice award from Temple too, and it’s a tough decision. Temple has better internship opps and he likes the urban campus.
Still waiting on Engineering here as well. Kind of nice to know we aren’t the only ones.
Sorry Mike10201020 I honestly don’t know the answer to your question. Good luck! The wait is so hard.
is it an advantage or disadvantage to apply regular decision?
It kind of depends, early action tends to have higher acceptance rates (depending on major and amount of applicants) but the pool is often more competitive too. I wouldn’t say it’s an advantage or disadvantage. @IamAnXious
Has anyone heard back from the college of natural science yet?
@IamAnXious In 2016 16,359 people applied EA, and 11,652 were accepted or 71% compared to 60% overall. 24,344 applied regular decision or 60% of all applicants. 24,275 total students were accepted at the end of the year and of that 4,643 enrolled for a yield of just over 19%. While it may be true that EA applicants are better students I have found no data to back that up. A 19% yield is low so many of these so called better students are applying as a safety school. The truth be told is that every admissions counselor needs to make sure they meet the yield of 19% or otherwise they will have empty seats.
Sounds like they’re sending out acceptances for the competitive majors now. Hoping nursing is next!!!
@MACC2022 I’m waiting on the same thing! Hoping they release them soon!! Good luck!!
Still waiting on Engineering as well. Good luck to all those waiting; hopefully nursing & engineering will be hearing soon!
Still waiting to hear for my S, applied as a Communications Major.
I haven’t seen anyone posting that they were denied. Does anyone know if it is typical for UMass to send out all acceptances first, before any denials? Or is it possible that people just maybe less prone to immediately run to their pc/phone to post that they were denied? Has anyone out there received a denial from UMass Amherst yet?
@prouddad2000, we are doing the same UMA vs UML analysis. 29K x 4 = $116,000. But if you factor in an Adams or Koplick that’s worth about 14K over 4 years bringing the cost down to 102,000. You also need to subtract something for food for a fair comparison. If you estimate 3k/year for food, that brings the 4 year cost difference to 90,000. Assuming a 45 year career, that is a $2,000/year cost. Is the difference between UMA and UML worth 2K per year going forward? Of course there are many other factors.
Son is waiting for Bio oos.
Have science major decisions been released yet?
@CompSci2018 How did you come up with the figure of 14k for the Abigail. Unless it changed, it is only worth $1700 give or take each year. Has something changed? It would be great if it did. DS is in the UMass system and it only covers tuition. Tuition is almost nothing. It is the fees that jack it up.
Yup, Adams or Koplik is $1714 per year for UMA. It’s borderline dishonest I think how they tout it. In 2016 or so, what UMA calls “tuition” went from like $1700 to ~$14k. The scholarships, while still described as “full tuition” still only actually give the $1700. Unless you really look into it–you might even think $14k a year, but nope.
How do you find out if you are invited into the Honors College? My S was accepted, OOS with $14K per year Chancellor’s Scholarship. 35 ACT, 3.8/4.0 GPA, many ECs. But we don’t see anything about the Honors College - did anyone find this out? He was accepted to Isenberg.
Accepted Isenberg! Looks like every morning at 12:30 is or so is the notification date.
My daughter was also accepted to Isenberg and CHC. It was on the admissions form, one paragraph below her major.
Also got accepted to Isenberg and Honors College today!
has anyone heard from social / behavioral sciences or natural sciences?
