Does anyone know how hard it is to get into UMass Amherst? I visited earlier this year, and they made it out to seem very selective. I'd like to know how much of a chance I have of getting in, as UMass Amherst is my top school right now.

Here's my overview:
- Junior in a small (less than 300 students) independent college preparatory school in Indiana
- Weighted GPA of 3.55
- My school claims all of our regular classes are taught at honors level (no weight)
- We're not allowed to take AP's until our junior year, and I'm currently taking APUSH and AP Lang
- SAT score (first time) of 610 in both writing and critical reading and 410 in math (obviously math is not my strong point)
- First ACT will be taken on April 12th, but the PLAN predicted me to get between 21-25. I've been told that the ACT will be the better standardized test for me, and I hope to get a 28 despite the PLAN prediction.
- Plan to major in English
- School clubs that I'm in (this year)
- Community service
- Student-run online journalism website (I am a writer and one of 3 editors)
- Relay for Life committee
- Environmental club
- A group of three other students and I put together a proposal for a "Before I Die" wall to go up in our school to emphasize community and the importance of art/expression and will put it into action over the summer if it is approved
- Work at a produce farm in the summer (1st of June - mid August) and the month of October
- Work at an accounting firm on occasional weekends throughout the year and week nights and weekends during tax season
