Hey, was wondering what you think.

I am applying transfer to UMass Amherst. I did horrible in high school and in my first semester at Uhart. Then I transferred last spring to Dean College which is basically a private institution that is like a CC but gives a lot of hands on experience. At Dean, I got a 3.4 in the spring, and I'm sending in a fall midyear report that reads:

Business (3): A
US History Colonial-Reconstruction (Colonial-1877) (3): A-
Public Speaking (3): A-
Audio Production I (3): A-
English 112 Analyzing Literature (3): B+
PTU II (I'm a peer tutor) (2): A

My application was late so I must wait 'til December until they crunch their admitted/enrolled numbers and see how many more spots they have left, so my chances are slightly reduced, but my mom and I did contact admissions together and had a great talk with them on the phone explaining our situation and why the application was late. My college essay explained why I didn't try before and what I have learned and about controlling my future so it does explain the awful semester at Uhart and all that. I was just wondering what you think and how much a midyear report is considered because it would be really reassuring to know that a college like UMass would weigh those grades in just as heavily (came out to a 3.71 for the fall so far). I applied to the communication program but am certainly happy getting admitted generally then working my way up from there as I have full confidence in myself that I can excel at UMass because I love the atmosphere there.
