UMD College Park class of 2022 EA discussion

@trp2000 at this juncture I would probably call and if you can’t reach a live person then send an email. I would also suggest you check in with your school counselor to see what they have to say about your transcript being sent or not sent.

What time do we think decisions are going to come?

5 PM

Are you sure?

very end of day on decisions – they will not want to take a million phone calls on Friday afternoon. If it’s today, the will likely post after 4:30 - closer to 5pm - and then everyone gets to ‘absorb’ decisions (good and bad) over weekend — they then start to field the calls on Monday morning (for kids who get FC, deferred/rejected and/or anything other than a down the middle acceptance. Good luck!

count down time! @trp2000 you wont be in the EA if everything hasn’t been received by now…look for mid March regular decision I would think. Our counselor did same and got it to admissions asap and they assured us EA but we shall see.

last year it was 5 PM. if its not check at 4 and/or 430. Good Luck!

I have an odd feeling with this new Coaltion app its going to have some bugs and decisions will come at varying times

@mom of boys2 Thank you so much!

I looked on the Coalition FAQ page under “how will i know if i am admitted to a college?” to which they responded “After submitting an application, colleges will communicate an admission decision in their preferred way (such as postal mail, phone, or some other way). Contact a college to find out how you’ll receive your decision.”

That response was posted yesterday… wondering how they’re going to post our decisions on coalition if coalition doesn’t seem to post decisions for many other colleges.

Anyone know if UMD’s acceptance rate includes spring admits (freshman connection)? Hoping for FC since my stats are average and I’m OOS.

do they say scholarships with letter?

no

What are my chances of getting in? I go to a rather tough private school in Maine with a 3.4UW/3.8W GPA. 1400 SAT score (710 m/690 e). 650 on the Math level 2 subject test. I’m a 3 sport athlete and have captained 2 teams. I’ve taken 4 honors classes and 1 AP class. I do a fair amount of community work outside of school. UMD is my top choice so I’m really hoping I get in.

@sss111222

Q: How and when will I find out about if I received a scholarship?

For admitted student who applied by the November 1 priority deadline, financial aid decisions will be released electronically by April 1. Student awarded a merit scholarship will receive a notification in the mail by April 1. Admitted students who applied by the January 20 regular deadline are not considered for merit scholarships. You can view your financial aid status online and visit the Office of Student Financial Aid website for more information.

The Acceptance rate does Not include Spring Admits. For the past 4 years, decisions have been released at 4:45PM

If my D applied to the Smith School of Business and does not get in what are her options? I know she applied as undecided for her backup but I’m not sure how hard it is to transfer into the business school later on in her college career.

@reb091393 I think it is very competitive to transfer into later. It will be a deal breaker for my daughter if she isn’t a direct admit.

Smith is the most competitive LEP at UMD for both direct admits and Internal transfers.
