UMD College Park class of 2022 EA discussion

How are we notified?

@camcam2022 We will receive an email telling us to check our Coalition applications I believe.

UMD does defer

Holy crap, you guys have no chill.
Do we know yet if decisions are coming out today or not?

historically they come out last Friday in January around 4:45 pm @owsophomoreyear

I expect everyone will have questions once decisions come out. Here is a link explaining most of their programs that may be on your acceptance!

how will we be notified of our decision? through email? I have never received any info from maryland by email…not even a confirmation that my application was received, though I heard this was normal

@bmc100 Q: How will I know when my admission decision is available for review?

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions will send you an email to notify you when your admissions decision is ready. Follow the instructions listed in the email to view your admission decision online. For security purposes, please note that we cannot reveal admission decisions over the phone.

If you are offered admission to Maryland, you will also receive a general welcome letter from Undergraduate Admissions in the mail a few days later.

thank you!!

it will be interesting to see how smoothly this goes with MD - given first year with coalition app – as during application process, they were having some difficulty working out the kinks a bit, but hoping it will run smoothly. Shall see today (or next week)

I’m thinking decisions will be sporatic and freak us all out!

Haven’t been impressed how colleges in general use the technology. In this day in age, there shouldn’t be so much uncertainty and confusion as to where to check, etc. Florida State has a great admission model. They give the EA date (yesterday), and post the acceptance letter and scholarship letter right on your university setup portal. Super easy and no uncertainty.

I’m thinking it will just be another line on the check list. There is bound to be some issues since it’s first year. Hopefully we can all relax tonight!

Is anyone able to access the coalition site on a mobile device? I’m traveling and don’t know if it’s the service or the site itself.

Penn State is the most absurd with its “rolling” releases – there is no methodology - whether applying first day or last day, the releases have been random over the past 2 months. You should see that thread of the anxiety

haha @A1A1A1 it was the same fury ball of anxiety for months with Binghamton releasing notifications in a drip-drip fashion. And technically they don’t even have rolling!

@RoseM I was able to access it yesterday from my iPhone.

@A1A1A1 My son applied to Penn State as well. (on 9/16/) Just got the acceptance this week. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to Penn State’s process. They also seem to have acceptances and denials with the same stats. You just never know what they are looking for 100%. At least with UMD, we should all know at the same time (hopefully)

Will kids get deferred with this release or is it just thumbs Up or Down?
