Ok so silly question. My DD got an acceptance envelope from the University of Maryland, College Park. Very awesome as it is her first choice.
But…it’s just a typical business size envelope, with a single page letter in it (and a cute rubber braclet).
The envelope is red, and it says “Now a Terp” but it’s just kind of anemic next to all the other big, full-sized envelopes.
Look, I know this is petty and stupid but it just seems odd (and ruins my photo plans for the envelope!). I wonder if another, bigger one is coming?
@Astro77 I hear you… Haha. The other schools going all out sending huge envelopes filled with praise, information booklets, checklists, promo items! And here comes Maryland with a regular size envelope! Lol. I guess it is what it is and Maryland decided it wants to put their money elsewhere… Good for them.
@Astro77 - If your D attends UMD, they will make up for it with lots of free T-shirts, scarves, sports events, and other stuff.
@Astro77 At least your D got something in the mail. We are OoS and have received nothing other than the acceptance on the portal. Oh well. Maybe today?

I know it seems petty, but these kids work so hard, and the big traditional envelope seems so official.

Oos acceptance letter today! Legal size letter but came with a rubber bracelet.

@Astro77 Totally get where you are coming from…but as SoofDad pointed out, bells and whistles are yet to come, after you commit. I don’t remember if they gave anything at the admitted student program, but they def start to give out stuff at orientation…I remember my son getting at least one t-shirt, and a drawstring bag, in addition to a t-shirt for scholars, and a few other little trinkets (and that was just at orientation). Over the four years of collecting free stuff from the university, he still has a mountain of stuff, even after his little sister (and I) stole some things from his collection (ssshhh)…
Thanks everyone! I know UMD gives out a lot of freebies, I’m not really looking for that stuff (although it will be fun for her). I just had a photo opportunity planned with the envelope and the little one sort of fails on an excitement level. Oh well, I guess I’ll buy her a UMD sweatshirt and some other stuff for my photo to send to family and friends!

Received letter in CA. It’s very generic - it’s not the same letter that’s on the Coalition website, which gives major info and Honors College admission info.
