@sdevorefl FYI, there is absolutely no preference given to legacy students for anything other than the Col. J. Logan Schutz Legacy Scholarship
“This scholarship is made possible thanks to a generous gift from Col. J. Logan Schutz '38, '40, past executive director and director emeritus of the University of Maryland Alumni Association. It is presented annually to a student with at least 56 credit hours attending the University of Maryland, College Park, who is also a legacy student (one parent or family member is a graduate of College Park).”
@canigetahoyaa Same with my D. No ILS. University Honors. Maybe a chance to get into ILS later this summer after completing AP Bio and submitting results? Let’s see how the merit scholarship, if any, pans out.
Indeed… The letter from the “Office of Undergraduate Recruitment and Scholarship Programs” had nothing to do with scholarships. It was simply a welcome letter to the school of engineering. Anti-climax for sure!
My D got a President’s Scholarship today…a whopping $8,000 total. Doesn’t sound very presidential. She has already been accepted to much better schools and has been offered substantial merit from U of Miami. Very strange how these things work. Congrats to all who received nice awards. No UMD for us.
Can someone please clarify- Is a $20,000 Presidential Scholarship worth only $5,000 a year? Other scholarship offers were listed per year but the wording here seems different.
I am in the same boat. Was really looking forward to EIP but got into gemstone. I am also looking to appeal as I thought that gemstone was harder to get into as well.
@lablover69 The wording is a little confusing, but it is pretty clear to me Presidential is “equally distributed over 4 years”. So $20k is $5k per year.
Haven’t received a scholarship email yet…anyone else in the same boat? is the scholarship info directly in the email, or does it direct you to a website (and could that site be shared for those of us who have yet to get the email)?
@cams18 It was directly in the email from office of Undergrad Admissions. No link to a site. I heard they take a while to distribute all of them though, there’s still a good chance you’ll get one.
