UMD Honor College Housing, Forms, Timing

Thoroughly confused now by a couple of threads on CC. My D was accepted to UMD Honors College. Filled out the preference for "University" Honors. But we didn't fill out a specific housing request yet, because it's our understanding that $400 non-refundable app fee is required. However on other threads I see some reference to "filling out the form anyway" and sending it in without the money. That doesnt' make any sense to me. On yet another thread someone said "if you go elsewhere to school, you're not out anythign as long as you tell UMD by July 1" that didnt' make any sense either. Can someone clarify? Thanks...tried to search other thread to get at this before I posted here. So i'm sorry if this is redundant.

Send in your form now. The $400 is different. You don’t send in money with housing form.

She most likely will be in Hagerstown Hall. That’s where vast majority of university honors kids are…like my daughter.

Much appreciated. I’ll go check out the site to find the form. I assume it’s obvious (vs. the one with the $400 fee).

We are in the same boat as you.

You are not committed to anything unless you accept admission and enroll, which requires the money.

In the meantime, while you consider offers from other schools, you should sign up for your preferred Honors program and fill out the online housing form. These activities do not commit you to anything and do not cost money now.

Your dorm will be determined by your honors living learning program. It makes sense to submit the housing form now to get in line and hopefully avoid being placed in a Triple.

If you decide to go someplace else, let UMD (honors and housing) know as soon as possible to help others get spaces.

Where can this form be found?

Log in to your account, where you got the admissions acceptance. I found it there.
