email and wolverine access
just wondering whether they will release all the decisions before ivy day
Last year, I believe they released it on the 31st or 1st.
This week is going to be great. All of the ivies and UMich come out this week.
@Jeremiahhh71 what day is Michigan coming out? Or is it not confirmed yet
The twitter accounts states they will hold an online session for admitted students on Tuesday. For that to make sense, they should have a decent number of students already admitted which suggests they should release some decisions before then. Of course, it could just be a session for a select few already admitted…
@nbt012 There is no definite date. However, based on last year dates, it should come out latest March 31/April 1. I know some of my friends received their acceptance email yesterday (Sunday, 3/26). I haven’t received my acceptance yet though.
Does anyone know if the school sent our rejection emails yet?
I just asked counselor to send my 3rd report card to admission office, it’s probably too late but I just don’t want to have any regrets.
Does anyone know if all the rejects are in? My son does not have his decision yet!!
@CantbelieveNJ Well, I am still here waiting for my rejection…
I was wondering if anyone can conform for me that decisions only come out on Thursdays and Fridays? One of my friends told me this, and I don’t want to keep obsessively checking Wolverine Access and my email on other days if it is unnecessary lol
I reread rd 2020 thread, almost everyone got waitlist or rejection on decision day. Now all my hopes are gone.
@Zpower99 dang actually? Was that the one that came out around the 31st or so?

@Zpower99 not true. if you look through their results, many are accepted
Wait, what…? I read the thread. I didn’t know that UMich waitlisted regular decision applicants. If someone who applied RD is waitlisted, when do they hear back?
@Zpower99 also take into consideration that a lot of the rejections from last year were OOS applicants. The acceptance rate for IS students has remained relatively stable at over 40%. OOS acceptances are seeing a rapid decline due to the huge increase in the number of OOS applicants.
I think with the huge number of applicants this year the OOS acceptance rate could drop below 20%. We’ll have to wait and see when it’s all over to see how the numbers work out.
It’s the same at UCLA, Berkeley & UVA - much easier for IS students to get in, but they still attract a lot of OOS applicants.
@sushining
ucla berkeley and uva are only 30% out of state while the umich class of 2020 is 50% out of state. i know a girl who got waitlisted from umich in state but got into berkeley and ucla out of state.
2016 UofM admission numbers
~55,500 applicants
10,595 IS applicants
4,511 accepted
~42.6%
35,783 OOS applicants plus
8,758 OOC applicants
10,815 accepted
~24.3%
UofM has increased it’s class size over the years to accommodate more OOS/OOC students, but the number of IS students accepted and attending has remained relatively stable in that time period. Yield is another story. Many accepted IS students may choose another university based on different factors - finances, scholarships, location, prestige etc
Currently overall, UofM is nearing 50% for OOS/OOC students and that number is steadily increasing. The university is actually receiving a decreasing number of IS applicants due to high school trends. It’s just demographics - less students graduating from Michigan high schools in the coming years. It’s projected to continue for at least the next 15 years, so it’s possible to see an actual increase in admission rates for IS students in the near future to maintain its IS numbers. That remains to be seen. UofM has done a good job overall maintaining its IS population while expanding its OOS presence.
For your friend, I’m sorry. It sucks getting denied by your state flagship when other universities of equal or better rank are willing to accept you. Stranger things have happened though. I’m sure she is happy where she decided to attend.
