UMich Ann Arbor Early Action for Fall 2022 Admission

The overwhelming majority of RD applicants will either hear an acceptance or rejection. But several thousand (almost 10,000 for the 2020-2021, somewhat of an anomaly) choose to accept a place on the waitlist. And in some rare cases, waitlisted applicants can wait a long time.

But that’s WAY WAY WAY down the road. Let’s hope for LOTS of EA acceptances for everyone here.

Tomorrow around 3:00 PM EST or thereabouts. Yes, that’s still speculation.

Ha, no access then no money for tuition… Was our rule… Lol.

Hi everyone. Do these stats look good for getting accepted tomorrow?
4.5/3.9 GPA
33 ACT
Lots of in school and out of school activities with leadership roles including president of a club.
Activities center around community and advocacy.
What I believe to be pretty strong but especially unique essays.

Umich has a logic that they give decisions on friday so they can give the weekend time to children to proccess their decision and either celebrate or move on happily. I don’t think they realise that it’s not only AFTER the decision that we feel low and annoyed. They’re infact adding fuel to the fire with their way of responding to eager students. They try to avoid distracting students on weekdays and release decisions on weekends. But, they don’t know by acting the way they are…nobody really is paying attention anywhere except the mail.

What’s the saying?

‘Hope for the best, plan for the worst’

If the student expects the decision ‘by end of Jan.’ as UMich says, then plan for that.

If UMich releases decisions early, then hurray!

I don’t see who UMich is misleading anyone.

So I guess today has really good odds of a release especially with the Interim President sending an email.

So please when you get notified…

State if in or out of state.
Unweighted GPA or GPA
Major
Stats if you took Act /Sat
Your result of accepted, postponed or denied
It helps gain the information your all asking for.

Good Luck! I would be shocked :astonished::flushed: if it’s not today.

Also…be kind… Most will be deferred today from here. This is just the first step to being accepted actually. The school will want to see your midterm grades and many here won’t be accepted till April. Nothing vicious about it, since it’s all stated on their website. For years the process has been the same. They really take this seriously and every application gets a very thorough look by several different people. This takes time. Many schools don’t go into this same detail. That is why you all wait. Do you really want them to rush through your application??

Good Luck and congrats to those accepted. For those postponed just the start.

And if not today… Then Monday

Any consensus on the approach for a student who is postponed?

Is it recommend to write a letter of strong stated interest IF UofM is your strong first choice, you’d commit if accepted, etc written to your AO?

Thoughts please?

You will get an email on what Michigan wants you to do. Follow that. Stay within the word count of given one.

Very good speech for this thread!! Good luck everyone!!

@Knowsstuff In your message, you referenced an email from the interim president. Did all applicants get this mail? Where did you see this mail?

Good luck, everyone!! I see many of you on other school threads that also have EA releases today- I hope your kids all get at least one “yes” today!! Trying to remind my DD that this is a long process that can go out to April/May.

I still think it’s odd we expect to know the exact day and time notifications will be sent. Back in the day a letter showed up in your mailbox, you had no idea who else was accepted until you showed up to school in the fall and you had no idea what their stats were. We all survived. I don’t see this as a Umich issue, I see it as a sign of the times where we all demand immediate gratification. Not being nasty just saying.

I think this message is a little inconsiderate because everyone here is waiting patiently for the last 3 months so I dont believe it’s our need for instant gratification in this case. Plus, it’s about time that the decisions come out and yet none of us know when .We’re all assuming so everyone is speaking of anxiety cause we know it’s late jan yet we dont know what the date is. Hence, it’s not instant gratification. Plus back in the day yes you received your letter in the mail but now there is a reason universities chose to not do that and give out dates and times for decision day. The reason is so that we don’t face what you had to face and for many more reasons of the admissions committee. According to that privilege everyone feels overwhelmed because inspite of knowing we’re gonna get results we still dk when. This is the place everyone shares their stress and anxiety with different kinds of messages. So, let’s respect that and not judge and compare as to how two generations are handling the same situation differently.
