what is cds acronym for?
Common Data Set
Common Data Set. Most colleges publish this data on a yearly basis, though Columbia and a few other choose not to do it.
The CDS is a wealth of primary information about admission statistics, institutional priorities, and more. It can be a useful read in preparing to apply to schools because it helps to know the history and also to know what each college values.
Iâm with you, @Htas. Iâm glad she applied to too many because it feels like nobody knows this year.
This is very helpful!! Thank you
As started an Insider let a few of us know about half the class gets accepted during EA. This is actually common among other colleges also. I personally like 2/18 but just a guess but inline with the Ross releases like in the pastâŠ
How difficult is it to transfer from LSA into Ross?
Cross campus transfer into Ross is about 100 students so not easy.
General question for those with experience in previous yearsâŠOur D has applied to Ross. She was deferred (everyone, almost literally everyone, at our HS gets deferred every year from UM and then acceptances trickle in during RD). Based on her other acceptances, UM would be a light consideration as LSA and on her extreme short list as Ross.
Two questions, based on recent history. Do deferred students who get into Ross typically not find out until very late Ross rounds? I recall seeing someone post that theoretically they could admit to both LSA and Ross in the same round, but not sure how thatâs realistic since in order to do so LSA would have needed to have informed Ross of decision well in advance so that they could consider. Lastly, do most Ross acceptances tend to follow EA acceptances?
I lied. Three questions. One of the prompts on LSA asks to discuss reasoning for applying into school of choice. Would LSA ever take that into consideration- the likelihood of a candidate being accepted into Ross- in their initial LSA decision? I.e., maybe a student would fit LSA but the AOs decide that that candidate is unlikely to gain acceptance into the B-school and as such would be unlikely to enroll in LSA (which I assume is not an uncommon applicant).
How many transfer students get accepted into Ross?
I read some Ross school materials that suggests that they prioritize transfer applications from students who had NOT previously applied to Ross.
âPriority consideration is given to
students who have not previously received a Ross decisionâ
When we visited a few years ago with my older S and attended the Ross specific tour (what a building, btw!), they told the students that their only viable entry into Ross was as an applicant. The sentence âDo not go to LSA with hopes of getting into Rossâ was spoken by two different people- the admin and someone taking questions after the tour. In fact, the admin said that at the time the only open spots were likely to be through attrition.
I called the Undergraduate Office of Admissions today and was told that they expect to have only a âsingle releaseâ this year the âfirst week of Aprilâ and no waves.
I was hoping for waves like Ross does. If someone hears something more updated, would love to know, but thats what i was told.
And thatâs correct. The probability of a transfer acceptance is at least partially based whether that poster has been rejected by Ross during the HS process.
A cross campus transfer to Ross is difficult, but not impossible. Ross does offer a minor as well.
If there is acceptance, it doesnât give much time to prepare. I guess itâs better than WL but at some point youâd have to move on to what is certain.
I just put my money on the line for the 18th⊠Lol ⊠Honestly I donât believe it. It would be so far out of what they have done historically. They might of said you will find out âbyâ AprilâŠ
Well, 10 more days to find out I guess
Or 17, or 24âŠif it gets past 3/4 and nothing has been announced, then Iâd be more inclined to think that itâs one single release.
FWIW, I just chatted with someone on the UM website and they wouldnât commit to anything beyond âby early Aprilâ
- This is very disappointing if true. 2. First week of April is SO late!
Thatâs just âparty lineâ stuff. No one in the Admissions Office would commit to any date besides the mantra of âby early April.â :
