Can someone please explain to me the fine print of this program? Does it help or hurt your admission chances? What do the officers look for when admitting someone into the honors program? I am planning on applying EA to UMich with PA in Ross.

You don’t apply to honors until you are admitted to the university. It is mostly only for LSA but you could participate in honors for freshmen year if you later are in Ross. The “application” is simply writing an essay based on various prompts that will be disclosed later. Your credentials also matter but honors already has your general application so it does not request further information. Some students are “invited” to apply to honors based on their general application. But anyone can apply. I have read on CC that everyone who is “invited” gets accepted, but someone in my son’s high school who was invited (and had excellent grades and scores) did not get accepted. So the essay is very important.

The above post pretty much covered it all. You don’t apply to honors until you have been accepted to Michigan. Also, if accepted PA, there wouldn’t really be a point in applying to honors because you only would be in it for one year. For this reason, I have heard (and I think it is even stated on the website) that honors admissions counselors are rather reluctant to accept PAs (though it is doable).
