UMich or UIUC for ECE?

i'm an international student and i've been accepted to UIUC and UMich engineering.
The problems=

Why UIUC?
+ My parents insists me to go to UIUC because my mom was told that UMich eng. grads are harder to get jobs than UIUC grads (btw, is this true?).
+ UIUC's engineering rank is higher (you know.. Int'l students' parents only care about those fallacious rankings..).
- I have to go there alone.

Why UMich?
+ My best friend is also accepted to UMich so we can share a room together.
+ IMHO UMich is a better school.
- My parents prefer UIUC.

Money is not a concern for me. So are surrounding cities and climate. I just wanna put serious attention in the college's overall experience and job opportunities.

Now which one to choose?

thank you very much ^^

Engineering grads from both of these schools should have no trouble finding jobs.
UIUC is right next to a cornfield… (in the middle of no where).

Michigan is more prestigious overall.

I would go to Michigan for sure.

If you want an overall experience, I’d recommend Michigan. Michigan is in a major metropolitan area of 5 million people or so, there will be a lot more to offer in the Detroit area than Champaign-Urbana. (Note that it’s only about 25 minutes of farmland that separate Ann Arbor from what I consider to really be Metro Detroit.)

Finding a job coming out of either school will not be a problem. I’m an EE major from Michigan, I’m co-oping in Illinois right now, about 100 miles south of UIUC. I honestly figure that Michigan and UIUC both offer a similar college experience as both are large, public Big Ten schools. There is nothing like heading down to the football stadium on a fall afternoon with 100,000 other fans. I know both areas, just trust me that Michigan is in a better location and the Detroit area offers just about everything (and Chicago is only a 4 hour ride from Ann Arbor.)
