UMich Rolling vs. Early Action

So I'm a little stressed (as is like 97% of this neurotic forum) because I reported my SAT and ACT scores October 29th. I applied to UMich early action, and their deadline is Nov 1, so they most likely won't receive my scores until after that deadline. (No one told me that it takes 1-2 weeks for the CB to process your SAT scores BEFORE they even send them out (until I called them, of course)). Though I paid extra for rush delivery, they will still have to process the scores on their end.

I was told that I'd have better chances getting into U of M the earlier I applied. How true is this, and is the fact that I'm going to miss the EA deadline going to affect the admissions decision? I was told by friends that earlier is better because "they fill their in-state quota as fast as they can so they can recruit as many out-of-staters to make more money." Is there any truth to this (I'm a MI resident)? My application will probably be considered 2 weeks from now. Are my chances much different because of that? Is this nothing to really worry about?

It is in general true (i.e. you have a better shot applying EA/ED) but it probably applies more to the out of state full pays, who bring in the maximum $$.

Uh oh. I saw on the UM admissions site that they don’t accept rush scores. I think you’d better check that.

As long as it’s electronically, you’re safe.

I was only able to ‘rush’ my SAT - I wasn’t given the option to do so with my ACT - and after talking with both companies on the phone, they said they’ll be sending it electronically. However, I took the test 2-3 years ago, so I think there is extra processing on the part of ACT and the Collegeboard. Any suggestions/knowledge I don’t possess?
