Hey guys. I just received a 40k scholarship from a UMICH program (something fairfax?). I was just wondering if this means that this is the only scholarship I will receive or if there will be more to come. I have not applied to the LSA honors program yet and I am gunning for the full ride (tuition + board) with strong stats and ECs.

I got the same scholarship (Jean Fairfax). I’ve received invitations for some of the scholarships that require a separate application, but I haven’t gotten anymore automatic merit awards. I think that for the awards that require both merit and need, they have to wait until they process your FAFSA and CSS. Otherwise, I dont think I am getting any more merit based (outside of the competitive, separate application scholarships).

I have a friend who initially received Rogel and then had his Rogel scholarship switched to Fairfax and then the University finally invited him to Shipman Weekend where my friend received the full. My friend didn’t contact anyone asking for more or anything. It was automatic.

Are you guys, who received notifications, in-state or OOS? And how were you notified: e-mail or snail-mail?
And would you mind sharing your stats?

What - for saying he or she was generally a strong candidate? Obviously, MasterYster WAS a strong candidate, as evidenced by the merit award. No need to be hatin’.
No point in hiding one’s light under a bushel ;)

So-so community service activities, like volunteering at the library and a humane society. My grades are quite average, especially for this great scholarship, so I think it was my other ECs that helped. A few leadership roles, competitions, internships.

I put in a lot of work in four years. I think I deserve to call myself a generally strong candidate LOL instead “insane genius who is 2 good 4 umich”

My D just received the Engineering Scholarship of Honor today by mail. She also got the Regents Merit Scholarship last month which is for in state students only. I am hoping there will be more to come.
