UMich, USC, am I being realistic?

I’m a current Illinois cc student. If everything continues to go the way I expect, than when I apply to a 4 year university I should have a 3.8+ and be a member of phi theta kappa ( I also have a part time job). My course load isn’t easy but isn’t particularly rigorous, I will have taken the basics (chem, bio, stats, 2 English classes, etc). It seems like everyone on this forum has cured cancer or has a non profit so I was wondering if a student like me stands a chance at these schools? Syracuse is also a concern of mine, I do need a lot of need based aid.

I can assure you that 98% of accepted students at the colleges youre looking at haven’t done anything of the sort, don’t feel too intimidated. There are a lot of very hardworking over achievers on this site, plain and simple.
Your GPA is fine but I recommend you go over USCs GE requirements for transfers. Jump on over to the USC transfer thread for more info.

I think that you have a decent shot at getting in to USC and UMich.

Your big concern is that their fin aid package is unlikely to make them affordable for you unless you have some hook (like URM or something).

I’ve done net price calculators and those two are actually extremely affordable for me because my family doesn’t make much at all (lower middle class here).

@sab002, are their NPC’s accurate for transfers?

The problem is that only several handfuls of schools meet full need, and even those who may for freshmen admits may not do so for transfers.

I know for a fact that USC doesn’t discriminate based on standing, I’m not completely sure about Michigan but from what I can see on their website it appears so
