UMich v/s GATech

My child has admits from UMich and GATech engg schools. Both are out-of-state for us.
Desired major : EE
Needed input to help us reach a decision.
Any marked difference in the EE programs in either (in terms of specialization) ?
How about co-op, internship opportunities ?
Which school offers better research potential ?
On-campus job opportunities ?
Which one registers higher in terms of job prospects ?

Any insight appreciated.

How certain is your child of majoring in engineering? If the answer is “very,” then it’s a very tough call. If the answer is “kinda, but has other interests and might change majors,” then Mich is definitely a better choice, @ssanghvi

I don’t know enough about either to contribute to this thread from that angle.

However, I will remind you that both are very, very different in terms of undergraduate body, fit, social scene, internship opportunities, etc.

There isn’t a “wrong” decision here, per se. Just an educated one.

They are both fabulous choices for engineering so congrats to your child. I do think the vibes of the two schools are different in terms of size, location, focus (GaTech being overall more STEM oriented) so, assuming price is not the issue, I’d go with fit.
