Umm...

Tell me, am I right in freaking out? I live in New Hampshire, and schools in Illinois have already received my forms. MIT has not. According to MyMIT, I'm missing all of my guidance forms and recommendation form A. Plan of action?

Not to worry. So long as your main application is in, they will wait for the other forms. They won’t even start to look at apps until the 2nd at the earliest. They have to sort the paper apps and all of the other forms that arrive in the mail. Relax, they’ll let you know if you need to do something more.

Thank you. I’m just wondering if it hasn’t been updated, because stuff sent two days ago arrived yesterday.

From Matt’s blog today:

The tracking system isn’t updated until your application is processed, which can be quite a long time after the mail is actually received in the mail room.

Oh, awesome!

Still not in… though they were sent Tuesday and schools across the nation have them. Can’t help but freak out, aha.

I’m in the same situation toastmaster-I’m in NH too, and farther away schools than MIT show that they have my stuff, but MIT doesn’t (and neither does BC, actually). I’m sure they will soon though, they’ve got a lot of mail to deal with as Matt’s blog entry said.

Still no dice after a week, still ok?

One of my teacher recs literally never made it to MIT- it was only after MIT was like “so, we’ve processed all of our stuff and if it’s still not showing up it’s legitimately not here” did I send it again. Faxed it, actually.

I still got in early.

Moral of the story: I’d wait until the end of this week at least before calling them, and they may very well tell you to wait some more. It will be okay. Mail gets lost, some of it’s probably just taking a while to process, whatever. Give it a bit more time. I totally understand how anxious you are, though. That was me last year.
