Ummm.... About financial aid

I just got an email from idoc, saying that they haven't gotten the required papers yet. This is very bad, because I thought I had it sent in quite a while ago. I'm currently dealing with the situation right now (sitting on hold...), but I want to know how much this will hurt my chances of getting financial aid, assuming that a miracle happens, and I get in.

Thank you so much!

The only thing it will affect is when you get your financial aid decision. You would still get financial aid if you qualify either way.

This is what Daniel Barkowitz said in a blog a little while back.

We do not have an arbitrary cut off date for financial aid eligibility at MIT. In fact, we continue to review Freshmen applications through the summer before the year begins, so it is not too late to begin applying for aid.

However, we do read applications in the order they complete, so the earlier you get your application in to us, the better the likelihood you will have your financial aid award with your admissions packet or by the time you need to make an enrollment decision (May 1).

Oh, thank you thank you thank you thank you!!! I must have misread that post. I thought it was saying that the longer you took, the less likely you were to actually get aid.

Oh, thank you so very much!!! You have just taken 20 lbs. off of me!

You're welcome. I was freaking out about the same thing before I saw that because my parents couldn't do their taxes until a few days ago so I'm just sending that stuff to IDOC now.

Same situation with me. I sent the financial aid office an e-mail explaining the situation.
