UMN Twin Cities Early Action for Fall 2023 Admission

Any other EA1 applicants out there for CSE who have not heard back yet?

I did EA1 for CSE and still have not heard back.

Did you get an email asking for 1st semester grades? My semester has not ended yet so they are not available.

Yeah but around November.

anybody knows when we will hear the merit?

Merit comes after acceptance, and can take a while. Note that merit notifications are sent in a letter in physical mail (NOT on the portal or in email), so watch your mailbox!

what about international students? will umn send mails as well?

I don’t know for sure how it is sent to international students. We are in California. My son received his merit letter in the mail several weeks ago, and it still doesn’t appear anywhere on his portal. He only received the physical letter.

My son was accepted to CS in early October, only got merit offer mailed this week ($10k).

OOS from WA State, We received the merit aid(National Scholarship)of $10k per year in mail today, lower than what we expected. This puts UMN COA higher compare to Purdue, Pitt, UMass Amherst. Is there additional merit scholarships we can expect from UMN?

Has anyone been able to figure out if there is a trend for EA applicants who find out at the deadline? Is it a similar mix or more deferrals/rejections than people who hear earlier?

In addition to the “university-wide” merit scholarship you received, there are also “college specific” scholarships (some merit, some based on need) that come out later. For us notification came in the mail, same packaging as the university scholarship (envelope says scholarship on it), but a month or so later than university-wide merit.

Good luck! In our case, the combination of university and college merit scholarships brings the tuition & fees cost down to the same as our in-state public flagship. Hopefully you’ll get more from the college as well.
