Are there any other students in here that applied out-of-state from the east coast? We are in NY and I can’t even find an admissions counselor assigned to our area. I’m just curious if anyone else has applied from this area and is still waiting to hear back?

S23 (OOS from NJ) applied on 10/9. For us, it’s still too early to hear back.

Congrats! When were they accepted?

Thanks - admission was about a month ago (I think in the first batch) application was submitted in August.

My son applied on 9/14. Do you say it’s too early to hear back because we’re east coast OOS or because of the date your son applied? Thanks for responding!

From last year’s UMN-TC EA forum on CC, it seems that some kids get admitted in 1-2 weeks while for others, the wait has been longer. I recall someone mentioning that it appears that UMN has an “auto-admit” process if the stats on GPA, Test scores etc. are right. For us, UMN-TC Carlson is a reach, so we fully expect a prolonged review.

Got it, thank you. Good luck!

My son applied to college of science and engineering with a computer science major out of the Philadelphia area.

Application date: 9/4
SRAR: 9/5
Acceptance: 9/19

Hope that helps.

An update here - DS received scholarship information in snail mail yesterday. We are OOS and he was offered National Scholarship ($15 K), Gold Scholarship (if he goes from NMSF to Finalist) plus a one year Undergraduate Research Scholarship ($1800).

I appreciated all those who’ve posted details in the past, which helped encourage him to apply ASAP this cycle.

Congrats! Can you please share stats since info from the past was so helpful to you?

National Merit Semifinalist, 4.0 unweighted (school doesn’t weight or rank) from a OOS public school with very diverse (economic and otherwise) student body. Not URM.
