I think all the rankings show that VT is the best of these but probably i would go to UMN cause it has the least tuition cause am OOS for all of them i just want to know is engineering in UMN as good as penn and VT?? i feel like UMN is not really focusing on engineering and i really want to go to a good engineering school

What engineering are you interested in?

Comp e…

is penn upenn or penn state? If it’s penn state, then I say go to UMN. CSE is a really good school, though I can’t speak specifically for the comp. eng. department

pen state…

I’m an electrical engineering sophomore at UMN and I’ll say that going here definitely won’t hold you back, but what exactly is your criteria for a “good engineering school?” The faculty here are just as good as anywhere else (better than a lot of places IMO), and once you get into your actual engineering classes (late sophomore year - senior year) you will get to do lots of neat projects.

I have a friend who goes to Olin College of Engineering in MA (one of the better - and smallest - engineering schools in the country if you’ve never heard of it), and I don’t feel like he’s any better of an engineer than I am.

I can’t speak about penn state or VT, but there are a TON of opportunities to be had here. For example, I am on the solar vehicle team, and I just landed a sweet internship with an electronics design company.

Plus, as you’ve already mentioned, UMN is cheap :)
