UNC 2018 Transfer Student Thread

I am hoping so much for next Friday April 6th. @HSstudentNC

Me too. I am gonna keep my expectations low and assume it’s gonna be a later date rather than earlier, but I will still check Connect Carolina daily once the 6th comes. I can already see myself refreshing the CC page over and over lol.

@HSstudentNC do you think it’s necessary to start checking the portal? I thought that they send out an email the day before decisions are released, so we kind of know that they’ll be coming out the next day and that’s when we check.

The email telling you how to check your decision when it’s ready can come up to a week (based on years’ past) before decisions are released. So when you get that email, you know decisions are coming soon, but you don’t know the day. That’s why I would still check daily (from April 6th on). @transferdog

@HSstudentNC oh, I see. And then do they not email you again saying that your admissions decision has been posted on the Carolina Connect portal?

You’re right, I read some of the past year transfer threads and if I understand it correctly, they got an email stating that their application had been reviewed and a decision would follow within a day or 2. So no need to check Connect Carolina until that email comes in. @transferdog

@laurencewithau thanks for that informative post. Since you are the VP of the transfer organization, do you have any idea as to what day transfer admissions decisions will be released? (Like a concrete day, not just “before mid April”). Thanks!

So according to the logic that we get an e-mail a week before decisions, I guess that they won’t come out next week.

I meant that the email could come up to a week before. It can be anywhere from a day or two to a week before, at least going by the past 6 years threads. So there is still a chance decisions could be released late next week. Decisions came out Friday, April 7th last year. I’m still thinking it’s most likely going to be between Monday the 9th and Friday the 13th, but I have nothing but trends from previous years to back that up.

Next two weeks are going to be the longest week for us :frowning:

Happy Easter to all of those who celebrate! Within 5-12 days (assuming they don’t release after April 15 or on weekends, which they haven’t in 6 years) we will get decisions. I know the wait will seem like forever, but once you do get your decision, please post a few of your stats along with the decision in order to help future UNC transfer applicants.

will do

While my daughter was home this weekend for Easter break we went into the schedule at the login page and picked out a potential schedule for her for next year. It is saved so if she gets in we have potential classes. Also looked at dorms. Does anyone know where they are going to live if accepted?

I’m still considering housing options. Probably on campus, but I haven’t done enough research to see which residence hall will be best for me if I’m accepted. I’m also considering off-campus as well, so I’m unsure.

I’ve heard that we can register for classes right after getting accepted and I’m wondering if you guys would be doing that. I’m concerned about doing it like that without fully knowing what credits will transfer over or what classes I should be taking. However, I also don’t want to wait and then not be able to get the classes I need. Should we wait until orientation over the summer or just register as best as we can once we get accepted? I’m also unsure how that would work without knowing our financial aid yet…

@transferdog If your waiting for financial aid do not commit and pay your enroll deposit until you see your aid and to make sure you can afford it. Once you get that and you are going to commit then register for classes. I have read to not wait until summer. Classes do fill up pretty quick. Hopefully they send the transfer evaluations early also.

If you log into your Carolina page go to schedule planner. It let my daughter add a bunch of class schedules in there. So this way you will have an idea of what classes you want when you get in.

So anxious for decisions. Potentially only 3 or so more days.

The earliest a decision has come in the past 6 years was April 7 (last year), so I’m gonna assume decisions won’t be posted this week unless we get lucky and get them on Friday. I hope we get that email on how to check decisions soon.

Yup that’s what I’m praying for. I just want to wake up in the morning to an email telling me that decisions are out =))

Anyone else going to accept the minute they get accepted??
