UNC 2018 Transfer Student Thread

I actually have a final exam planned on that day at 12 PM. I live about 2-2.5 hours from campus. @AwkwardNewYorker I don’t think I’ll be able to make it.

@HSstudentNC I live in NY so I’m about 8 hours away. I don’t think I’d go for a social event. They just emailed again about a Info Session for admitted transfers but there are three different days. It would be nice to go down there again, primarily because I’m cold and want to go somewhere not so cold, and meet people.

Understandable. That is a long drive to have to make roundtrip for something small like this is. I will likely be going to one of the Info Sessions because I’m not that far away and it will likely be very helpful/informative. @AwkwardNewYorker

@HSstudentNC thank you!!

Hi! So basically it was by pure luck, honestly. I called the communications specialist quiet a bit to get some information. I tried to get to admissions counselors but they always made you go through communications specialist first because they can answer most of your questions. So one day I asked a particularly hard question (I don’t remember what) and they transferred me over to admissions. And I ended up being transferred to the VP of admissions and we talked for almost half an hour. She then asked for my email to help me with some links, and then when I saw her signature I figured out she was the VP. My current honors college adviser told me to send an email back saying thank you, my name and my interest at Carolina. They usually keep your name to the side if you do that. It really was pure luck I got her. @kflan13

When I get on Sakai it says “The site you requested is not available.” and nothing else shows up .
What should I do?

@HSstudentNC Does that mean you can cancel if FA is not enough?

If financial aid is very important, I’d wait until you get your package before accepting your acceptance. In some cases, the enrollment deposit will be waived if you receive a certain financial aid package. I intend to enroll regardless of financial aid, but I want to see if my financial aid will let me have the enrollment deposit waived before I pay it.

i got in as a cs major(from CA)… honestly, i feel like UNC’s cs is not too strong tho… but anyway, i am happy about this result…

I still haven’t heard back from UNC. Today’s time-frame was from 5-7, which has now passed… I guess I’m in for a longer wait now ^:)^

I’m in the same boat @Vincent1997. Now it won’t let me login to Connect Carolina, it’s giving me an error.

They just added two things to my financial aid checklist and they’re both for 2019…a year which, at least to my knowledge, hasn’t started yet.

Just got an email telling me that I received the CCI laptop grant. It covers the Lenovo L380.

It probably means financial aid information for the 2018-2019 academic year. @AwkwardNewYorker

@HSstudentNC I got the same grant!

@HSstudentNC I thought that but it doesn’t specify so I don’t know what tax year they want. When I clicked it it just said 2019. They want my W2s and I dont know if they want 2016 or 2017. One form is an online one saying I was selected for verification by a private security thing. Im gonna call tomorrow. I also got the laptop grant.

I got two things added to my ToDo list and they say 2016 if that helps! @AwkwardNewYorker

@HSstudentNC mine’s a ThinkPad L380. I don’t know if that’s the same thing or not but it’s awesome!

Yeah mine is the same, the Lenovo Thinkpad L380. I literally just bought a laptop a few weeks ago too lol. I didn’t get any new to do items for financial aid. @alliezannino @AwkwardNewYorker

Just got my financial aid package. Looks pretty good, but I do think my circumstances from 2017 would qualify me for the Carolina Covenant. I’ll send in that form soon.
