UNC-Chapel Hill Early Action 2016

@ilikefood, I also applied early to Stanford (I was rejected). I think that decisions will come out Friday! So excited!

UNC is by far my top choice! But also waiting to hear from Emory Scholars, UVA and Miami! Cannot wait

Anyone, when does UNC notify accepted students of their merit scholarship (if any) ? Is it with the acceptance letter? Will they know when they find out if they were accepted when they check online? Or are the notified later? Thanks much!

jj55014,

I was notified that I was invited to the university Scholars Day (where the university awards the majority of its scholarships) via regular mail a week or two after I received my decision. If I remember correctly, however, I found out a couple of days after I was admitted. After you’re accepted, you can access a tab that says something like “View Events” on your Connect Carolina portal. That was where I first saw the invitation.

You won’t actually know if you’ve received a merit scholarship until after Scholars Day in late March. I found out in the first few days of April last year. They send the notification, again, through regular mail.

Other Scholarships, like the Morehead, Robertson, Johnston, and Pogue, have different selection processes, so I can’t say when you will be informed about those. I would expect that you’ll know whether or not you’re a semifinalist or finalist in the next few weeks.

Go Heels!

Sounds like it is really important to make it to the Scholar days? I’m OOS.

I’m OOS too! I am really nervous! The sooner I know, the better

Will UNC release all the decisions on one day, or will they gradually be trickling out?

ACCEPTED!!
Hey guys,

I got my early action acceptance notification today.

If I understand this correctly, the letters were sent out on Tuesday.
I am in-state, so I got mine today via snail mail. It was a large envelope.

Parents waiting for kids: you can shift the letter in the package and see the first line in the envelope, “I am pleased to offer you
acceptance…”

Home schooled, but duel-enrolled. 4.0 GPA. 2210 SAT Several APs. In state.

ACCEPTED!
instate, 4.77 GPA, top 7%, 1850 SAT, 7 AP classes (my letter came in the mail, still not online)
best.day.ever.

im ops and on the main page of the UNC Campus Portal it still says “decisions are not available online”

DD accepted via large envelope. In state.

University of Virginia is posting theirs tomorrow at 4, so I would agree that tomorrow’s deadline sounds fairly probable. Good luck everyone, and to you in-stater’s who know, congrats!!!

UVA is releasing decisions tomorrow at 5, not 4. Sorry to correct you, but I’m just trying to avoid a slew of screaming replies.
