UNC-Chapel Hill Transfers Fall 2010

This is a thread for those applying to UNC-CH as a transfer student for the Fall 2010 semester. Those who applied in the past couple years are more than welcome to discuss their experience with the UNC admissions process as well (and, in fact, I'd like to hear what you have to say about it).

I'm applying after a shaky HS performance without any extracurriculars, two years off in between HS and college, and then realizing I legitimately wanted to learn and get a higher education and finishing two full-time semesters (working on my third right now) at a NC community college with a 4.0 GPA, something I realize is not uncommon at community college. I'm a pretty good essay-writer and I've maintained a forty-hour work week since graduating HS (even while enrolled in the full-time school schedule), so hopefully those two things are enough to negate my shortcomings. We'll see. I get more nervous by the day. UNC-CH is the only school I applied to for this fall; I am going to apply again next fall with my AA if I don't get in and probably fill out the Transfer Common App as well.

its less than a month… cant wait to get the results

Less than a month? Thought decision date was April 21st??

Any current UNC students/faculty out there that have any insight into how transfer admissions operates? How heavily will they look at my HS transcript if I’m six years removed from HS and have completed two full-time semesters at CC, working on the third? Part of my essay addressed the poor HS record. What do you guys think?

myoneandonly,
last year, the date was April 9th
