Also (if you happen to know) how were they contacted? Was it like a check your status email and it was on conmectcarolina? Or was it a phone call or snail Mail? Just curious.
@ineversleep Hey, friend! I live in NC, so I’m assuming these people were in state too…Also, I asked if they were athletes, but my friend said no. I don’t know how they were contacted, but I’m very suspicious if it’s true because I feel like the most ethical thing for UNC to do that would save them lots of questions from freaked out kids would be to make an announcement that they were staggering admissions, but I don’t know. Ugh, this is so sketchy. I’ve also been looking at the #UNC19 hashtag on twitter and haven’t seen anyone say they got in, so hopefully this is just hype.
I don’t like the idea of staggering admissions without at least making an announcement explaining it or indicating whether what time you got yours was an indicator of anything like honors consideration or etc.
I had a friend get in to Chapel Hill way back in October, but he was a recruited athlete with a full scholarship, so maybe that was how his friend was?
Also, my ConnectCarolina is the same, and I’m in-state. Carolina has never done anything like this before (especially without officially announcing it) so I reaaaallllllly hope it’s just hype!
But it does make sense to stagger decisions since they have so many to release…guess we’ll just have to wait!
A lot of people found out they were Morehead Cain finalists via email yesterday, so I think that’s how they know they got in. But the wait feels sooo long!
This next week will be one of the longest mentally haha. Let’s pray it’s not the 30th like last year. Can’t believe how time flies…feels like it was October 15th yesterday!
I know right! Any advice? I’m super stressed out about this decision
@collegequeen777 Same! I’m just doing generic scholarship applications I can apply to whatever school I end up in now to pass the time–that way, even if I don’t get into Carolina, I can say I did something productive and didn’t waste a week of my life waiting for a rejection haha.
That’s a good idea! I’m a little behind on scholarship applications anyways so I should probably start on some while I’m waiting haha thanks
@SouthernHope Impressive your daughter was admitted to UChicago. She must have had something of a hook. I feel like they are more selective than UNC. My daughter would be thrilled with UChicago.
So anybody know when the decisions are coming out?
@phillysportsfan We’re hoping for the 23rd, but the 30th is a possibility too. Or any day this week and next. Nobody knows for sure.
I went onto the ConnectCarolina Website and saw this message posted: “ConnectCarolina Outage Thursday, Jan. 22, 5pm to approx. 12 midnight”. So if the site is down for maintenance conveniently the day before they could possibly release admissions, could this mean this is what they are actually doing?
Hi @11premed11 …yes, lots of folks speculating about that message…but it’s kind of been discredited above.
or maybe not.
sigh.
the waiting is hard!
In state girl here. Pretty anxious about these decisions. In past years they’ve released it anywhere from 1/23 to 1/30 and I’m hoping it’ll be early this year. The seniors last year at my school got in one the same day but at different times so it was very interesting.
That outage happened the same time last year. It is like the last day to add/drop classes for students or something. People thought it was decisions last year and it wasn’t. Hoping for Friday though!
I don’t think I’ll be able to make it through one more week if they don’t release them this Friday… I’m out of state (I live in California) but I used to live in Goldsboro, NC, and UNC has been my dream school since the 3rd grade. It’s so much harder to wait with the date right around the corner!
I don’t think I can wait another week either. I’m going craaaazy! I’ve planned on seeing Into the Woods this Friday to keep my mind off of things
