I’ve looked on the forum from last year, and yes! They received emails with instructions as to how to view decisions that night at around 6:30.
Does anyone know how soon the Excel@Carolina emails are sent out after the EA acceptances?
My sister was accepted on 1/30 and she got her Excel@Carolina invitation email on 2/4.
@JLeeC37 - for OOS students, I think legacy status is used more as a tie breaker. See:
http://admissions.unc.edu/information-for-parents/
"I am an alumnus/a of the University. Will this be taken into consideration when my child applies?
"Because we maintain close ties with our alumni and value their commitment to the University, we do ask about alumni ties on our application. For non-resident children of alumni (those whose mother, father, step-father, or step-mother attended Carolina), family ties to the University may be used in our final admission decision. Please note that legacy status cannot be derived from siblings, grandparents, or other extended family.
“Family ties for the children of alumni within North Carolina are not considered in our final decisions. Since the number of alumni within the state is considerable and since the University is a state-supported institution, giving a significant advantage to their in-state children wouldn’t be fair to the other North Carolina taxpayers. However, the children of in-state alumni do fare very well in admission since they apply well-prepared to succeed at Carolina.”
Someone in my english class just told me they would be releasing decisions in about 2 hours…I have no reason to think he’s telling the truth but its just as good of a guess as any other.
Thought I would share.
^ here we go again
Someone else just texted me and said 3:30… again, no reason to think its true, but I do live in Chapel Hill and now two different people have now told me the same thing so I would at least give it a chance
@unchopeful98 I remain suspicious, but I’ll give just about anything a chance. Thanks for the info. Good luck to you and everyone else.
My d received her excel@carolina email on 1/ 28/ 2015 at 7:54 pm EST. Just checked. Not certain if she got acceptance that day or the day before. I suspect it was the same day tho.
@unchopeful98 your friends could be talking about the instrunctions on how to check tomorrow. The time does match up with when people thought this notification would be posted on the blog
is it true that it’s coming out today at 3:30?
I doubt it because everybody has been saying that they have to send an email the day before explaining how to check the decisions. Having said that, I REALLY hope I’m wrong.
^ Agreed
Apparently this year they aren’t sending out an email because the website will crash. Instead they are supposedly just posting instructions on the admissions blog.
I’m inclined to believe @sophiakath2016. so 4 tomorrow right? or has it moved up?
Is 3:30 today just another rumor?
@emleigh as far as i know its 4:00 tomorrow still! who knows maybe they finished early and will release earlier but the last definitive answer i heard was 4 tomorrow
nope
^As much as I didn’t believe you, I still had to check
