UNC Transfer Fall 2020

Yeah it took about a week for my package to be available in Connect Carolina. Others said it took 10 days to 2 weeks so the time can vary.

and are we able to do anything like housing and stuff before we get our financial aid? or no?im stressing about being behind

You will be able to apply for housing before your financial aid comes in. Same thing with registering. If you have already submitted the enrollment deposit, you’ll be able to do all the stuff in the coming days/weeks even if your financial aid offer hasn’t come through. I’ll explain how my first weeks/months went after I was accepted.

April 6th, accepted, paid deposit the same day since I knew Carolina was my school.
April 10th: I was able to log into Sakai. Connect Carolina showed me my enrollment date as well
April 12th: Registration began for classes, I didn’t get into 2 that I wanted, so I went for alternatives.
April 13th: Received Transfer credit report (had to submit a re-eval request in Connect Carolina because one of my classes didn’t transfer how I thought it would)
April 14th: financial aid offer
April 16th: Applied for On-campus Housing
April 30th: Completed Community standards form (you’ll get an email fairly soon, you’ll have to complete a background check and submit a form about criminal or discipline history)
May 2nd: Chose which orientation I was going to and paid the fee (I think it was $120)
May 18th: received housing Assigment in Hardin (#6 on my housing preference list)
June 1: Orientation

thank u for ur reply it was super helpful !! except i phrases my questions wrong. I meant if I am waiting to accept until I see my financial aid report, does that mean I won’t be able to do anything before then? I’m wondering if I can still get ahead of anything without having committed. thank u !!!

You can accept your enrollment and still not attend UNC. It is not like a contract nor is it not unethical. Many students do this, however, you will just loose your deposit that you may had paid. But you can just defer your enrollment if that’s the case so I don’t see why anyone should be waiting if it is regarding financial aid.

I am waiting to hear from other colleges, but I wanted to secure my spot so I accepted. Those that are waiting, should do the same.

i didn’t know this!! i’m not familiar with college stuff so i would have just never known. thank u so much for telling me

where do we pay the deposit ?

This not to boast about myself. I am simply writing this for future students that anything is possible. I hope you can use this as motivation.

Accepted into UNC and Kenan-Flagler Bussiness School.

Highschool: I was a terrible student:
Unweighted GPA 2.6
Weighted GPA 3.009
AP: Senior year I decided to fix myself, 3 APs-- Biology-4, Psychology-4, and Gov-3
ACT: 20
NO EC.
With these stats, I knew I was not going to be able to be accepted into a 4 university and decided to enroll at an NC community college and redeem myself.

Community College Stats:
GPA- 3.909/4.00
AA degree
At the time of my graduation, I will have completed 68 credits.
EC: Senator of SGA, Rotaract member, member of PTK, Student Ambassador (which helped a lot on my applications), NC Scholar of Global Distinction, and I start a successful small business with my family. I was already a business owner when applying to business school which helped a lot.
My essays were the strongest. I did NOT BS in any of my essays and I was authentic which I believe also helped me.

I had 3 letters of recommendation.

I hope this will help the prospective student. I will say never lose hope even if your past isn’t the best.

Also, I am Junior transfer.

@Bigdawg9871 - MAJOR CG man!

Am I able to pay the deposit so that I can get my registration date and then withdraw my admission later on with no problem if I don’t like my financial aid package?

If so, how do you do it?

I am not too sure what you are asking for, but my best answer regarding the question would be the $250 deposit fee is non-refundable.

I’m asking if I can pay the deposit without fully committing so that, if I don’t like my financial aid package, I can withdraw my acceptance.

I’m asking because I want to be able to get started on the process of registering for classes and applying for housing in the case that I can afford to go, but I don’t want to be bound to having to go there if it’s not financially smart for me to.

@Bigdawg9871 what type of business your family runs? That seems cool

does anyone know how the Carolina covenant works? My family makes 43k for a family of 4 so I should qualify to get it but idk when they notify transfers.

Does anybody else’s financial aid to do list still say that they are missing their FAFSA

Hey guys haven’t been on this thread since acceptances came out, I was just wondering where else people are looking to hear back from. I still have Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Duke and UVA to go!

@mraustinatwork The covenant scholarship does not have an application. If you qualify, they will award it to you automatically, it would show on your financial aide letter.
