i've already got accepted in nc state, but was just wondering if i should be prepared for a let down on january 31st. carolina is required by law to have 82% of their freshman class be in-state residents..soo this helps me out right?? if i need to put anything else up..just let me know..THANKS!!

anyone have an idea??

It helps that you are in-state, as you said 82% of the freshman class at UNC is comprised of NC residents. However, your SAT scores are quite low for school like UNC, regardless of residency, and while your Weighted GPA is impressive, unweighted is what they look at, and it's kind of low as well. So all in all, I believe your chances are "ok," but do not get your hopes up at all.

i'm from chapel hill, where do you go to school? your GPA is up there with the average acceptees, but your SAT is about 200 pts below, hate to say that, but u need some outstanding essays and recommendations to help you get in. btw, u've already heard from nc state? when did you apply? i submitted mine on the night of hte deadline and my status says mine hasn't bee processed. well anyway, good luck!

hey guys--ya i was afraid my SAT would be my killer..lol. i go to school in fayetteville..ya know where that is? right next to ft bragg. if ya do, i go to Terry Sanford High School. i didn't get to read my teacher recommendation b/c my teacher said that i should have faith in her. do they look to see what subject the teacher teaches and what clubs and stuff they run? if so, that should help me out. as for nc state..i applied on october 28th but didnt send my transcripts and recommendation(ya i did one for state lol) until nov 1st. i heard back from them about 2 weeks ago. you should check your status again..should be up! p.s.--im hoping/praying that my ethnicity (only .2% is pacific islander from the enrolling class of 04'..less than any other group) does SOMETHING..any thoughts about how that will affect my chances?

r u pacific islander? or asian? coz it doesn't matter how your schools' made up of, ethnicity-wise, unc already has way too many asians, but they don't mind more, unlike duke. i got to east chapel hill high school, maybe you heard about it, and yes i know where fayetteville is. what r u trying to major in college? that'll have a lot ot do wiht the admission too. as u probably know, biology and chemistry related fields are quite competitive.

"pacific islander american" is on the application and thats what i put..it is its own category. yah i do know about your hs, i think that i remember seeing a cheerleading squad from there at a competition in chapel hill last year..maybe not..but i think i did. my intended major is Pharmacy..its what my dad does. but i do want to get maybe a minor in german studies just because i love the language. (im in AP german and i loooove it :-P) what about you? whatcha gunna study?

wow your class must be stupid, i have the exact same gpa and im in the 130-150 range, i must say you are lucky for that much

the same weighted or un-weighted?.. and my class is..well i dunno..i would say that we are a good school overall..about 25 kids usually get into carolina every year. btw--farbdogg71..do you think i have a shot???

honestly, idk, i dont know the criteria for north carolina residents. if you were out of state, not likely, but idk about in state, it is a toss up

well i'm gonig for electrical engineering, so i'm not applying to unc chapel hill, i thought nc state would be my safe school, but unfortunately i haven't heard from them. i think it might help u a bit to choose "undecided" cause i knwo for sure that pharmacy is one of hte hottest field in unc-ch, and duke. that'll just lower your chance to get in, especially with that SAt score, well, i might be wrong coz your gpa is pretty good, and wut about your class rank? if u r up there with the top 10%, it'll help u to get in.

aahh--darn. im only in the top 20%
