Undecided Major

This has probably been asked many time over but me being slightly unknowledgeable in all things forum related has failed to find it, but does putting UNDECIDED as your major hurt your chances?

No, it doesn't affect your chances in any way.

good to know
Thank you

I agree. I know a girl who was offered a Trustee Scholarship, despite an undecided major.

Indeed, putting down UNDECIDED as your major has little impact on your chances of admission at the vast majority of US universities. The only exception I know of are tightly compartmentalized universities (NYU comes to mind) and schools with highly pre-professional orientation (places like NEU).

also if you put like say biology for your first choice major you can always change it right? and it doesn't hurt your chances for admission? Sorry I dont come from the US so its kind of hard to find out the little details...

The answer is yes you can... most of the time, particularly if you stay within a school. From what I can gather, transferring into CAS or within CAS is not a problem. Transferring into cinema is challenging to very difficult. Annenberg and Marshal seem to be a notch below. Not sure how things are transferring into Viterbi. So don't apply to a school as a backdoor to a desired major.

what if you want to do say a minor in the school of film and television but are pretty sure you want to major in CAS
