How hard is it to transfer into the Bouve College after spending a year undecided in the Arts and Sciences college? I'm 50% sure that I want to go into Bouve, but not sure if I should rush into now or test the waters with other things my freshmen year and THEN decide.

Have any of you transferred successfully? Do you have to stay an extra semester to make up for the classes you've missed freshmen year?

If you THINK you want to go to Bouve, you should apply to Bouve first. It is MUCH MUCH easier to change your mind and switch to a major in CAS than to switch to a major in Bouve. Pharmacy, for instance, is closed to transfers. Nursing requires going through a huge panel of nurses to make sure you really really want to be a nurse. When I considered transferring to Bouve, they said Physical Therapy didn’t have any spots open either.

CAS on the other hand is an email to the department you want, show up, get a signiture, and turn a paper in.

Definitely don’t try to transfer into Bouve. It’s very hard, if not impossible, to transfer in. If you’re thinking Health Science, just do it. Your class schedule will be comparable to a freshman bio or chem major, so then if you decide to switch into CAS, you’ll have some of the coursework covered.

Also, if you go in as undecided, you may have trouble getting into freshman level sciences. They fill the classes with freshman bio/chem/neuro/health sciences/pharmacy kids, so you’d have to really kick and scream your way in. I couldn’t take Bio I until second semester as a freshman. You can make up for lost time in the end, but if you’re sure you want science, you might as well just pick a science-related major and transfer later if you need to.
