Undeclared or engineering?!

So I'm stuck between choosing a career path of engineering or going pre-med. I do NOT want to major in engineering WHILE doing pre-med because I will not be able to maintain a high GPA--I'm the type of student who gets straight A's, but it requires more effort than most people.

Going undeclared sounds great, but then I found out that transferring into the engineering school is extremely difficult. You may think--why don't I just apply to the engineering school and transfer out if I found out engineering isn't for me? Transferring into other science majors--like biology or economics--is difficult too. (I'm not going to major in, say, literature for pre-med--I'm solely interested in science and math). Also, engineering school is extremely competitive, and I don't want to lose my chances into getting into UCLA because I chose engineering.

What should I do?!

bump!!!
