As you can read in the title, I want to transfer. Right now I have a 2.6 gpa and I have 72 credits. The min gpa that FSU requires is a 3.0 but with an AA the min is a 2.0. FIU doesn’t give AA’s but I had fulfilled all the state core classes and much more. What can I do to get accepted?
I applied with my AA with a 2.7… all we can do is hope for the best… trust me I’ve looked into every single option… I’ve talked to a handful of admissions officers over the past couple of weeks and you can file an appeal if you were to be denied. Assuming your GPA would go up substantially after Spring semester and have a couple of letters of recommendation. My advice would be prepare for the worst and assume you will be denied. Submit your application now (rolling admissions), grind out the rest of the year and make as good as grades as you can get, and if you get that denial letter, be prepared to send an updated transcript along with some letters of recommendation.
If you’re transferring from another university, you really need a 3.0 GPA. You can get in with a GPA below a 3.0 but it really increases your chances to at least have that.
@mevans6: If you are applying as a transfer, FSU will not consider any letters of recommendation.
@pasbal Yes I know trust me…lol. I’ve heard from several advisers though, if you are denied into a specific program, that’s when the letters of rec come in for an appeal. It may be for general admissions to, I’m not positive on that.
