Undergraduate research and internship opportunities at UCSB?

I've been admitted into the Biochemistry program at UCSB and am debating whether or not I should pick it over UCD. I'm leaning towards SB because I want to go into pharmacology and SB offers classes on that while Davis doesn't, plus a few irrational reasons like the fact that I got a full sized envelope for my acceptace from UCSB while I only got a regular sized one from Davis.

Anyway, a big factor for me is that if I want to have the opportunity to have some real experience during my undergrad years. UCSB boasts the ability for undergrads to take part in research with their professors and get published, but I haven't been able to get any kind of statistics on how common taking advantage of this is. I don't want to choose SB over Davis if this program is only available to the most exceptional of students.

Another thing is internships, because Davis claims that two thirds of their student body is in internship programs. Again, I haven't been able to get any info about how common or available this is at Santa Barbara.

well ucsb seems to have a lot more undergraduate opportunities because it has a very small graduate population, according to their open house (i know i know its like their lets boast propaganda day), but they said they offer grants to the student body for research and many kids do take advantage.

also, if you are in the honors prog, you will get a lot more face time with professors which will make research opportunities easier.
