Undergraduate Testing Requirements

Hi, I was wondering if by submitting the ACT with writing is enough for the admission process? Does Brown University want all the testing scores or should my d submit the highest? Because my daughter also took SAT and SAT II. but she scored higher on the ACT’s .

Thanks

She does not need to send her SATs

Son submitted both ACT and SAT 2’s. He is currently a Freshman @ Brown

Same here. However, my son never bothered to take the SAT.

Answers (from a current ED parent) to your RD cycle questions:

1) ACT+writing meets ALL the requirements Brown admissions; same for PLME
2) Brown’s SAT score choice policy is SAT High Sect V1 not AllScores like Standford. You are allowed to super-score for SAT i, and select which if any SAT ii scores to include in the official report
3) For ACT, Brown considers individual highest sub-section scores for the students benefit, but does not officially re-compute the composite. Rhetorically speaking, why ask for highest sub-scores across all attempts, if the aggregate (36x4=144max) is not considered at all. Possible to read between the lines, perhaps
4) With ACT as the primary reported score, reporting SAT i depends on the difference between the tests. It is hard to say without actual score data, but send SAT i also if the difference is less than 100 points (may be mute if above 2250). Send in all decent SAT ii’s (may be mute for ACT 35-36 with 11-12 writing).

After a certain threshold scores don’t help much; past middle-50-percentile, for sure. It is hard to articulate, but you will also need to take into account the whole application package, and what to project as the readers take-away’s.

With ACT charging for reporting each sitting separately, most colleges (including Brown) are quite understanding of applicants sending in one ACT score (w/ highest composite) and self-reporting all the rest via common application. This is what our child did, and I am willing to share some details if you reach out via PM (newbie not yet able to PM)
