My daughter’s application was confirmed/received 10/29. Checked the portal constantly since then. Status changed today (12/13) with “admit”! She received the Chancellor’s Scholarship (10k OOS)
Stats:
GPA: 3.9 UW, National Honors Society
SAT: 1250
OOS, Major: Psychology
Thanks for all the helpful info on here and good luck!
DD accepted to second choice major (Phys Ed vs. Nursing).
Offered $13,500 annually, which is fabulous.
We are OOS.
She loves UNH, but probably not worth it as she can stay in-state for Phys Ed if that was really her choice. She is committed to pursuing nursing, and has been accepted to several direct admit programs already. She is very lucky to have an excellent array of choices thus far, but the kid really likes UNH.
SO… friends, here’s my question-- do you think can she appeal to UNH in April to reconsider her for her first major? Any advice or experience with such a thing?
Congratulations! I have no experience with any of this but I don’t think it hurts to try. I’m sure people were accepted to Nursing there but will not go and maybe that means spots will open. If she loves the school and that’s the career she wants to pursue it’s definitely worth a try. Good luck!!!
I’m so sorry she didn’t get into her major. It can’t hurt to see if there is some sort of appeals process. Maybe call admissions and ask if there’s anything she can do (waitlist for the program or something). The worst they can tell her is no, and then she’s no worse off than she is now, and can move forward on making the best decision.
Thank you! I agree- nothing to lose to reach out before she makes her final decision in few months from now! I assume there will be some admitted students who don’t accept the offer as a nursing major. I’m pretty sure she will not attend without direct admission to nursing. But who knows!
Definitely have her reach out and share her genuine interest in UNH’s nursing program.
They are investing a lot into the new training center. It sounds like they are focused on meeting NH’s needs and may have prioritized instate applicants.
This simulation center looks amazing - have her share her mid year updates and how she wants to be a part of this -
I applied last-minute on November 15th. Will this hurt my chances? I have a 3.6 (unweighted) and a 1260, and UNH claims that they do not look at demonstrated interest…so I should be fine with that 90%-ish acceptance right, correct?
Yes, you should be fine for admission with those stats. Getting into your first choice of major will depend on various factors. You will probably hear in January since it seems like they process them in a similar order.
As long as you submitted by the deadline I don’t think that will hurt your chances. I’m sure lots of students worked on their application as long as they could and submitted November 15th. Good luck!
College Board screwed up my SAT order. Because of this, scores arrived a month late. I notified my AO, but there was no response. Does this significantly increase my chances of a rejection/deferral?
Does anyone know if admissions office is closed for holiday? Wondering if EA folks who haven’t heard (but applied in Oct) might before the end of the year.
