I got rejected from UCSB and decided to appeal, I understand it is a low success rate but hey its better than not trying at all. Anyway, if you appealed this year for 2015 share your info. What did you write about? Were you admitted from the appeal?
I also got rejected from UCSB and appealing. I wrote about something totally new in my appeal letter that wasn’t included in my initial UC application so I am hoping to be able to receive admission through that.
I got waitlisted and appealed anyway. I wrote about my grandfathers cancer that occurred during the end of my junior and my senior year. Then a couple of small awards and I included 2 letter of recs. I mailed it on the 13th and I havnt seen anything on my portal regarding UCSB receiving my appeal. Have you?
I wrote about my grandmothers Alzheimers disease, stage 3, and how I was her main care-taker and all my attention was drifted on her health. This drift greatly impacted my grades and focus on school but I soon got back on track. I’m really nervous. I mailed it out and haven’t heard back yet!

Does anybody know approximately when we will hear back about our appeal decisions?
It will most likely be after May 1st when they have all their SIRs for regular decision. I also appealed my decision, citing a few things relating to my schedule that were not previously made clear on my application as well as some accomplishments I’ve made since then including raising over $1500 for cancer research though a school club. I’m not super confident in my chances, but it’s worth a shot.
Major: Computer Engineering/Mechanical Engineering (2nd)
GPA (Weighted/Unweighted): 4.02/3.79
ACT: 30
SATII Math: 700
SATII Physics: 750
Calc AB AP test: 5
Physics B AP test: 4
Senior schedule loaded with AP classes
Essays were pretty sub-par, writing really isn’t my strong point.
UCSB really is my number one choice so hopefully they can see that in my appeal letter. I also have been in contact with some professors there about my appeal so maybe they will give a good word for me in the admissions department (probably not, but one can hope, right?). There is a HUGE difference between being rejected and being on WL. Being on WL means you’re sitting on the bench and the coach may or may not let you play in the game. Being rejected means the coach wasn’t even interested in having you as a bench warmer.
I’m very sorry if this sounds cruel, You are not doing yourself any favors by holding out false hope that you are going to go from reject to admit. There is already a long queue on people on the WL ahead of you. Even most of those people won’t get to play in the game.
YOU NEED TO MOVE ON.

I’m not depending on my appeal, its just worth trying. I know its a supper low acceptance rate, but hope is better than no hope.
@DashaVik I am waitlisted and I wrote a letter but nothing as showed up on the portal, not even indicating that they received it so a but worried but oh well.
