University College

I got an acceptance email today. Did anyone else ‘apply.’ Was it really even an admissions proces? And what do you think we’ll get, being the guinea pig year? I’ve heard good things about it’s parent program, the washington mentorship, but i wonder what ours’ll be like. . .

What is this? Please explain!

It's a living and learning community. You were invited to join in your acceptence packet. I think it's for the next 10% of kids who didn't get into honors. (if the top 10% got into honors, the next top 10% got into UC) I don't know if that's true, but It's what i think.

Wow! This looks great. I'll be applying to American next year, going to visit next month. I'd do it in a heartbeat! Congrats.

I was aceepted this afternoon by email also. What did you put as your first choice?

I think it may be interesting being the first class to go through the program. Maybe it will even be better.

I chose
1. Politics in the U.S./McDowell Hall
2 Understanding Mass Media/McDowell Hall
3 Western Legal Tradition/McDowell Hall
I really wanted to stay on north side, but i did check the box that said i'd do any program. I hope that doesn't mean i was put in the molecular world one, because me and science don't mix very well.

I'm with you on the science thing. I also checked the box. I put
1. Visual Literacy
2. Understanding Mass Media
3. Politics in the US

Have you heard back from them? They made it sound like my info packet was on it's way, but it isn't here yet, and it's playing a BIG role in my super-confusing course selection process. between that and AP scores, I'm lost. I think I may go to a july orientation so i know where i stand when i meet with my counselor. We do meet with our counselor during summer orientation, right?

Haven't heard anything yet. The schedule thing is terrible. I want to double major in business and communications, plus I'm waiting on AP scores to place me out of math, plus this. Add in the fact I may not be able to make it to the orientations... it's a mess. heh

I got my letter- understanding mass media. I don't mind not getting my first choice, but the class meets for 3.25 hours on weds. (and my attention span isn't that great) But the worse part is that now I can't take the govt-110 because the washington lab, the only reason i'd take the course (needed for my major but ap credited out, i think), meets at that time. So now i need to change my scheduale again. oh well, i'm still excited

I got my letter today too. I got my first choice, Visual Literacy. I meet from 6-10PM on Thursdays. 4 hours ahhh. hah. Also 9:55AM-12:35PM on Monday. I haven't made my schedule yet. I should get that done. So you are in McDowell? I have Anderson.

Wow, that's a lot of class time, maybe they counted those d.c field trips in your letter? But still, 7.5 hours a week for a class is a TON. I'm in McDowell, which is great because i really wanted to be on north side. I think i have my schedule, hopefully it'll work out. If not. . . It'll work out. thinking happy thoughts.
