University Commons or Freshmen Hall?

I'm going to put down my housing deposit today, but after much thinking, I'm not sure which residence hall I want to stay in... I've narrowed it down to University Commons and Freshman hall, as I want my own room but don't want to pay a ton. I want my own room because I've shared a room with 2 other people for the past 13 years... I'm ready to be able to control the lightswitch. =P

If I stayed in Commons, I'd be living in the Honors College dorms, with 4 other honors students in an apartment...
Advantages:
Lets me be more social (living room)...
Full kitchen.
Suitemates taking same classes I am.
Disadvantages:
Far from classes, dining, parking, gym, etc... Meaning I'd have to plan my day around when to go eat.

If I stayed in Freshmen Hall, I'd be staying in a single room attached to a batheroom, which is shared with 2 other students living in one room...
Advantages:
Slightly cheaper...
Close to classes and parking and the gym...
Has a dining hall in the building, so eating would be convenient.
Disadvantages:
I'd probably end up sitting alone in my room the majority of the time, as it doesn't really force me to interact with others.

What does everyone think? Where would you choose?

It may be a little early, but bump…

I would definitely do the commons, I am an entering college freshman at gsu as well and that is where I am staying.

Someone else asked this exact same question in the GSU Class of 2017 group, and 4 different current students told him Freshman Hall…=P

Also, is that just where you plan to stay, or have you gotten to pick already? I just applied yesterday, so I’m not really sure how the process works.

Hey, I’m going to be attending GSU fall 2013 too. From all my friends that have gone to the school, I’ve been repeatedly told that Freshman Hall is best for first year students. This is because there are constant events going on for freshman where they get to meet each other. In the commons you will be with a mixture of upperclassman and some freshman which limits your ability to find people your own age. Most people who live in the commons are looking for a more independent lifestyle where they cook themselves and what not. Also freshman hall, are more heavily protected. You’ll be able to eat when you want to and it is conveniently located closer to classes. I’m going to dorm there as well because everyone that I’ve talked with said that freshman hall gives you the best overall freshman experience. It’s also close to the Greek village so you’ll learn quicker where the parties and outings are. As a side note, I would not recommend dorming with fellow honors students. My sister dormed in the honors dorm her freshman year at Amherst College. Because of this she had a terrible experience. She hated the atmosphere and a lot of the students were snobby. My sister who’s really smart and in Chemical engineering isn’t the average nerd so she had a hard time getting a long with them because they were odd, judgmental. She moved to regular dorms and she enjoyed the rest of her college experience. She was able to make a wide array of friends and have more fun. She actually made more connections from dorming with the regular kids than she did in the honors dorm and was able to land an internship in a major company through a friend’s dad. Sorry for the length! I’m so excited for college :)
